I Bailed on Facebook, and It Feels Wonderful

This is from a friend of mine who is intellectually disabled as a result of injuries sustained in a car crash when he was really young. I am still friends with him on Facebook, but I blocked him from sending me messages because he ignored my requests to stop sending me these damn chain messages!



He seriously sent the same one twice!

This one came from a 60-something Air Force veteran who plays the drums in a band my best friend is in...

 

Lol! I used to get the ones from older family members warning not to flash your high beams at someone if they flash you, cause they're really killers in a gang initiation...

And about 100 other variations.

 

I made it 59 years without needing it but joined a couple of years ago to join some fishing and hunting groups. If someone friends me I might accept but then immediately unfollow so I don't see the bullshit. I even unfollowed my wife

 

I never had a Facebook account, so not really sure, but everybody talking shit about Facebook- isn't TW somewhat similar?....

I'm surprised a support group hasn't formed for these poor people.

 

As someone in the medical field, I cringe when I see girls from high school who have now had kids and post the most outlandish bullshit pseudoscience medicine treatments that they are going to try on themselves or their children.

Or people posting about cold/flu remedies that just don’t work or have zero backing. Someone suggested you get the flu shot twice in once season to protect against flu...sure.

 

You know this post inspired me to act on something I have wanted to do for quite some time. So I finally did it. Thanks OP.

I have not liked what I get (or not get) from FB for quite some time. There's a certain voyeuristic aspect to FB that I don't like. The family and friends who matter know how to reach me.

I was wondering how I could control my business page on there. I mostly only use my business page when signing on because like you the nonsense is unbearable. May have to do this as well so I can use my business page still.
