In the OPs post. It says he was going 70 and the tss slammed on the brakes.... That's what concerns me.

TSS doesnt slam on the brakes, at any point. It merely assists in braking until the driver takes over.

Its not telling anyone to lower any expectations, its telling you nothing works perfect, EVER. But I digress, once again 3rd Gen being 3rd Gen, I dont expect you to understand the concept of nothing is perfect, ever.

Right, it's not supposed to...but it did and that is one of the problems. You sound like a Toyota rep trying to get out in front of problems.

Right, and as I stated I have a 17 Rav4 that has it as well and works flawlessly. All this thread was intended for is to see if anybody else is having a similar problem to mine. Not find out what your opinion is about technology and how it's not perfect.

Opinion? Its factual technology is not perfect like yall are expecting it to be. Why do you think toyota built in for the system to shut off when the driver takes over? They know its not perfect like yall are expecting. But keep on thinking its supposed to work flawless and ill just roll on along. Have fun fellas!

I never stated it should work "perfectly" and I don't know why you are stuck on that. Have a great day :hattip:

I've read quite a few conflicting statements regarding this and do not plan on doing it. Granted I'm a bit behind on the 2018 grill swap thread that has been beating the topic to death with little factual supporting data. Did I miss something recently?

It seems unlikely that the system is sensitive to only a few inches of vertical movement when the potential object could be nearly anywhere in front of you. I lifted my truck 2" but installed a Pro grill dropping the sensor about 4".

Who will get the last word? Toyota’s complacency officer, Iamriaderpower? Or the rest of the community?

So if you were to plastidip over the sensor would it disable it without showing an error light on the gauge cluster?

Personally, never had a vehicle with this "safety" stuff, so I guess my opinion really does not matter.... Shit, I am going to give it anyway :D. I am happy my 2017 Sport does not have it, I am happy I do not have crawl, and I wish like hell I could get rid of traction control. To much shit to interfere with daily driving, but I guess I am old school :pout:

OP, did you swap your grille out, or is it still the same from factory?

Did u read the original post? Sounds like the brakes were applied without prompting, which at any speed is dangerous. Be realistic man. It’s not safe. How can that be debated? Just doesn’t make sense. I guess if you want to argue that point than you are pissing in the wind.

The trucks are great.... But UNNECESSARY braking isn’t always a safe practice.
