Thanks for the willingness! All this would be a logistical nightmare I think...we just get excited when we see boats for half of market value.

I was fishing it around 2009. Was easy to catch 2-300 crappie a day. It did dry up a bit and launching became problematic.

That was when I would have fished it too. I never fished for crappie on it. That's a good haul! I was referring to the bass fishing being horrible at least the few times I fished it.

Any of you guys find a reason to go with a specific color of braid over another or just pick your color for visibility only?

I typically stick with a blue, red, or moss green. It just makes it easier to see the line especially when surf fishing, also whatever I can find on sale/ the cheapest.

Edit: I missed the braid part. Still leaving my response, because if I switch my surf poles to braid, I'm using the same theory.

Surf fishing, I go hi-visibility neon yellow. Helps me pick up the line with my sunglasses on, and helps keep people walking the beach from walking into it. One day they'll learn that if they walk closer to the 10-12' poles they won't end up with a face full of fishing line.

Freshwater, I use moss green most often. I do have some neon green on a burnt orange rod/reel that I just did because it looked badass together. You know, kinda like mall crawling. :D

I don't mind if they walk past me. Hell, I don't mind if they pet my dog if as they walk by, she loves the attention. But don't act annoyed because you had to concentrate so hard to find my line to make sure it didn't smack you in the face.

I can't wait until my buddy finally gets tangled up with a pelican. I'm pulling out my phone and recording it. YouTube smash hit.

And, on an even better note, I found Yakima Q-Towers and lock cores (and bars/Q-Clips that won't work that I can put back up for sale) for $40. Probably going to pick them up tonight. Now I just need clips and bars (already ordered them cheap through work), then find a couple ski/snowboard carriers. It's going to be so nice fishing without breaking down the rods every time I want to move.

Just ordered 1000m of KastKing braid...thanks to whoever put the link below. Now I can take this expensive ass spool of PP back to Walmart. Paid damn near the same amount for 300yrds of PP as I did for 1100yrds of KK.

    :headbang:

Please do... I'm picking up a new drum rod/reel at some point this year and I'm still deciding on what to spool it with, and y'all got me leaning towards braid.

Will do! I’ve been a PP fanboy until this order of KK.

I’ve got braid on all my inshore reels and even some of my ultralight stuff (for Reds). Only mono I have is on my TLD and my panfish reels.

Looks like I'll be in Long island this weekend for a wedding... only a month too soon before the stripers are biting :bananadead: I guess I'll bring my surf gear and cast out a few times to get all the twists and headache out of my gear before doing real fishing in April.

I normally do that Easter weekend and fish on the kayak. I've never had any luck until the water hits 45-55 degrees. Which is the end of April into May. It's tough fishing when the tidal backwaters are only 40 degrees.

Only have access to the Long Island Sound, a small bay, and some small tidal areas off the bay without traveling real far. I'm not expecting to really catch anything, just go through the gear and if I do then great. The stripers will be up the Roanoke River (NC) or in my area "the rockfish capital of the world" in another couple weeks. Folks are catching shad now... not much longer.
