Tacoma ECU Tuning for 4.0L

It’s a 2.825 I just figured with the other mods I’ve done I may need something other than what you just posted for the 4.0

 

Aside from our transmission you have pretty much the same mods as me, idk if he has to modify my tune for other trucks or if it’s pretty much copy paste

 

I'll be putting on my 2.825 pulley this weekend. Just need some headers then

Yeah, I’m digging it too, especially with all these new blower tunes he’s going to develop. Im going to purchase at some point in the near future.

I like where this is going. Would love to see:

• 2.55 pulley tune
• Ability to run 61lb injectors
• Turn off P0420/P0430 / catalyst monitoring
• Turn off secondary air injection stuff
• Tweaks to A/T shifting strategy

So new to the tuning like I stated above....turning off the air injection stuff, would that end up harming the motor in any way? I understand why it’s there. I’m just curious. Also, more importantly. Turning off the cat monitoring.....doing so would enable me to hypothetically disconnect the o2 sensors o2 sims if I had them??

 

I would like to see this as well, but a note on the 2.55 pulley when I talked to him he wasn’t too sure about that just because of how heatsoaked the motor gets with the 2.85. Would be neat to see though.

 

^^^I assure you there is way more power to be had with 2.55 vs 2.85. Yet a 7th injector can cool down that heat soak very well especially with e85

 

It won’t harm anything to remove. The benefit would be not having that dumb sound occur every time you shut off the engine and not having to spend a grip when the valves or the pump fail. You could even make block off plates and save a few pounds.

There’s actually a guy that has been selling kits for a long time to bypass it, but back when I looked into it there were several posts about it not working correctly. Looks like he only sells them for up to 2012. And it’s expensive.

That’s what I have now, but running it with the UCON.

 

I’m supercharged with 2.80 pulley and have a 2.5 waiting for the right tune. (Quick change pulley. Could tune both sizes) with catted JBA headers.
Manual trans here, but desperately want to get rid of the rev-hang.

Can bring truck out if you need another Guinea pig.

 

Like ovtune said a larger heat exchanger out front for the super charger will help with that to.

 

I disagree... The heat exchanger is plenty large. On the hottest day running 2.55 and NST Kit our heat exchangers are cold to the touch. The problem is how small our intercoolers are. Unfortunately its pretty difficult to retro fit a larger one into the blower.

 

yes your right the one in the blower can only transfer so much heat to the coolant.
That's were the larger one out can help by reduce the heat of the coolant more efficiently.

 

I researched it briefly.....I got out of it that 2012 was the first year and the worst in terms of the system failure. That kit is pricey and seems to be not so trustworthy. Recently, Toyota put out a bulletin that this is covered by free repairs and pretty good warranty.
What about shutting off the controls for the 2 codes that track the o2 sensors?
