Could have sworn that Mat said you had to have both or the truck wouldn't run, so you must have done both.

but hell if it's that big a deal, re-flash ECU then TCU to be sure you don't fuck shit up.

You flashed most of the tune, but you're not getting all of the benefits of the pressure changes and snappier shifting that are included on the TCU file.

Should be able to just flash the TCU though if it were me i'd probably reflash both (ECU first) and let it idle for awhile to start fresh.

Does it matter which you do first - tcu or ecu?

No idea, but unless you are the kind of person that likes to watch the world burn and work from bottom to top, I would think Ecu first just because of layout.

yeah it probably doesn't make much difference but logically I'd start with the brains before flashing the gearbox

Just finished the 91ECU/TCU install. Mat’s instructions are pretty clear. Made one mistake but reread the instructions and figured it out. Currently sitting in the truck letting it idle!

next batch of serial keys sent.

I know a couple of you guys have the 4.0L 4Runner, one of my main dealers and Branches in the OVTune-PH is taking over all of my mazda work, so I'm looking to get some more 4.0L stuff done for the tacoma and 4Runner.
if you have a 4Runner and want to get some development finished (and a free handheld V3+) just let me know.

3rd Gen MT I will have an update in the MT thread

is your truck ON? you have to press the start button twice in an auto. can't be in accessory and your engine has to be off

If all else fails, use the "Monopoly game" approach, go to start. Usually works for me, either a hiccup or something I missed. All right, I've run the 87 tune for 500 miles, would've logged more but things happen. I've gassed her up with 93 to pull it up to 91 and I'm getting ready to flash the 91 tune. I smile when I do this, but I curse the guys on 91 already raving about it, because I need to go out of my way to gas up at a top tier 91. This includes you @bshammer0 , @dYL0n, @go2cnavy, and others. LOL It's a cold day here, I seem to have the best luck with the idle rev up being not as pronounced when I load the tune at the lowest operating temp, and yes, always I always let it idle for about half an hour. Or until Al Gore & his group show up in their Prius. :) After I get 500 miles on the 91 tune, I'll post my reviews on OP's @bshammer0,s thread.

It will be hard to go back to 87. The struggle is real. I had full intentions of filling up w/ 87 and flashing just to try it out a couple weeks back and mindlessly pumped 93. And have since filled up again with 93. I'll probably try 87 out before a long trip where I can at least claim to save some $ and test it out at some point but as of now I have ONLY run 93 on 91 tune and it definitely SCOOTS and sounds great doing it... Enjoy. Just don't say we didn't warn you that once you cross that line it may be hard to turn back.... :)

Granted I used parallels on Mac to do mine, but I didn't turn anything off on windows and had no issues... FWIW
