    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
Perfect! I don't have a scan guage, so I can't really give you a temp number. But the temp guage sits just below half way now... it used to sit above halfway all the time.

Yo sorry to bother you again! So I shoul not have to trim the Shroud on a 3.4 L six lug manual 4wd also the only other issue I would have with this install would be the lower rad. Hose won’t fit with the 3.4 Manuel, correct? Thanks again for this post I’ve been looking to do this Exact project and it answered most of my questions

HaHa sorry I’m confused with the lower Radiator hose. I think he is installing his on a 3.4 6 lug auto trans. mine is the same but a manual trans. If I get the gates 22120 hose it should still work with some trimming, Is what I was trying to ask. Sorry

I'm not sure about the shroud on a manual trans. I haven't measured the shroud or the overall height of the radiator on a manual. But the Gates 22120 will fit from the lower fitting to the thermostat housing.

I think the only option shroud wise for this radiator is to cut the lower part of the shroud unless
you go with an electric setup.

The 2.4 and 2.7 motors shrouds are NOT centered to the fan. The 3.4 shroud is more centered.

The 2.4 fan is NOT centered on the radiator. The 3.4 fan IS centered on the radiator. Because the 2.4 and 2.7 fan is not centered, the 2.4 shroud will not work with the 3.4 motor

New Champion radiator installed, but I am seeing this...are the hoses needing to be tightened or is this normal?

My hose fit perfectly with no leaking, maybe just get a screw clamp instead,
There should not be really much or any antifreeze coming from there anyways, that hose doesn’t have any real pressure on it. Is the cap on tight or leaking, are you sure it’s coming from the hose??

Thank You for the response! I tightened both the cap & the hose, no problem since then...definitely will get a screw clamp.

My cap started to leak, you might keep an eye on yours and replace the cap with a better quality one for 10.00.
I got a carquest 16 pound vented cap.
    The Champion cap is junk

Thanks for sharing this mod John, did wonders for my Taco! Also thanks to @Timmah! for his extremely helpful and easy to follow videos.

Completed this mod just before moving to Colorado Springs from California. The Gates 22120 hose worked just as described. I did make a few minor cutouts with the dremel to re-use my stock auto. fan shroud. I also ended up grabbing a Duralast radiator cap from AutoZone after seeing John's most recent post about the Champion radiator cap leaking.

I flushed the coolant twice prior to installation. Also changed the oil, upgraded to the tow pkg. fan clutch, installed a Tru-Cool low pressure drop trans. cooler (4454), new thermostat and air filter, cleaned MAF, greased zerks, changed diff. fluids, added diff. breather and scan gauge.
    :militarypress:
Truck ran smoothly for the ~1,200 mile trip and my temps avg. around 186-188 the whole time, only once or twice it went above 190 with a max of 194. We did break up the trip into about 4 days, with about 2 stops each day. Avg. around 20 mpg with a bed full of stuff.

    Highly recommend this mod!:taco:
