Haha my cat wont touch fuzzy blankets. He'll paw it like hes trying to find a way around it and lay down beside it.
He does however have a strange fixation with Qtips....

Anyone else get the Friskies app for iPad? It has cat games on it. No lie. Two of my cats like playing it. You set the iPad down in front of them and it displays a fish pond with fish swimming in it. Cat swipes at fish and they disappear. There are actual levels and it gets “harder” as the fish move faster, but my cats lose interest around level 2. My third cats thinks it’s stupid and gives me a dirty look like I just insulted her intelligence when I try to get her to play. The other two idiots seem entertained though.

Since Abigail hasn't improved with her peeing (and sometimes pooping part in/part out of the box) out of the litter box.. We are looking at options of boarding while we are going on our anniversary trip in May. :(

Anyone here board their cat before? If so what should we look for from prospective places?

I remember when I was younger my parents would kennel the cat. This was before internet so it was tough to tell. I would go by reviews these days.

I have worked for a veterinarian before that had boarding facilities so I have some suggestions as to what to look for. I would look into a place that is somewhat specialized for boarding as opposed to just a normal vet that allows boarding. The specialized places will have more comfortable facilities for your Abigail. They will also have people that come in multiple times a day to give some simple human contact throughout the day which is something that most normal vets won’t do. Some, more fancy facilities, will even have web cams so you can check in whenever you want, but that’s a bit much in my opinion. You’ll want to find a facility that advertises that they come in multiple times a day and that they will be in a larger enclosure with comfortable beds. With the issues she is having, likely due to some sort of stress, you will want to minimize the amount of stress she is under for your trip. It will likely cost more at one of these facilities than a normal vet hospital, but that will just have to be a cost factored into the cost of your trip to keep Abigail as stress free as possible. As stated above, read reviews and find a facility that you are comfortable leaving her in for the duration. Happy upcoming anniversary, and good luck with Abigail!!

Thanks for the reply. My wife is very nervous about boarding Abigail. We definitely aren't going to board her at our primary vet. I might make a FB post also to see what friends/family recommend. I know some that have talked about boarding dogs but never really cats.

How about getting a friend or family member to watch her, either at their place or by going to your house for feedings? It doesn't matter how plush the boarding facility is, she's still going to be stressed out.

Well... it's not just feedings that they would have to do.

Sorry for the long explanation below. :(

So I'm not sure if I mentioned it before but we have to change pee-pads a few times a day that are around her litter boxes. (Her litter boxes are clean - she has multiple ones to choose from. She poops in them).

So we change the pee-pad and then maybe a few hours later/whenever she has to go pee she will go on the pee-pad again. When we wake up in the morning we know that it will need to be changed... What I'm worried about is if we are gone and she pees on that pee-pad and a family member/friend doesn't come over early as we get up... that she will pee on that pee-pad again but this time it will go onto the floor since she usually scratches it after she pees... Also sometimes she has runny poop and having to clean that up isn't fun. I wouldn't want friends/family to have to clean that up.

Or what if she pees somewhere else (she's peed on the rug by the front door before) that a family member/friend doesn't look for and she continues to go on that spot/location while we are gone for the week?

She's 15-16 years old... She's healthy (besides hyperthyroidism) per the vet.

Sorry for the long reply. Hope that expresses my concerns.

C/N: I don't feel comfortable/want a family member or friend to have to deal with her. Money is not a factor with boarding her.

Most vets have boarding also, check with your vet to see. If not, I am sure they have a recommendation.

I swear my cat is getting fatter, so big if seen from space.... he would look like a deep canyon or crack in the earth.
