If you're talking about all of the clicking and clunking, I think that's normal because the truck takes over complete control of all wheels and sends power to each individually with individual braking

About the same crazy sound as when your traction control kicks in if you're slipping on a slick hill or something really. it sounds like the truck is about to fall apart, yes and I don't use it often but the 3 times I've felt the "need" to use crawl control it did the job but I shut that crap off as soon as possible :) Now, the MTS works really well in my experience and I use it frequently

Yes. It's just controlling slip for different types of terrain essentially but I've found it to do the job well in snow, mud, and rocky terrain.

If you select the tune by ECM code, why then do you select at tune? Yep, the process is totally clear.....

Not to go off subject for this thread, but wanted to clear this up.

That clicking sound is completely normal. There is independent control of each braking system in the truck. I thought this myself when I first tried it, but after I contacted Toyota and they explained what was happening all worry left me. It is really in hard on the truck when you use it constantly or over long distances (like 150 yds uphill). Also, the steeper the hill the less you hear those noises, especially when you turn the roof knob past the first spot. I never use 1mph for this very reason and because it takes eons to go 20 ft.

Wait till all that clicking and popping then your engine oil light comes on bc you have been climbing a 45 degree plus hill for to long. I like wheeling with new people and laugh when they all freak out with the noise thinking I broke a tooth or CV.

Agreed, I think it is sometimes useless to use crawl control when these trucks have 4-lo and a locker. It almost seems like more work to use the crawl control

Regarding crawl control, the tune does not affect it. But I am investigating crawl control features and how the ECU interacts with it, I may have a crawl control only feature in the future.

Yeah I know the noise is "normal" it's just disconcerting.

@OVTune interesting, wonder what you'll be able to cook up. like @bshammer0 I use the MTS pretty much whenever I'm in 4 low (not a ton as I'm still stock suspension/tires) but crawl control I've used twice, once testing it, and once just to see if I could really crawl down a hill... worked well once I "let go" and let the truck do it's thing

Has anybody been able to get pcmflash to run in virtualbox on osx?

Some guy (wish I could remember) said he had no issues whatsoever. Make sure Windows Defender is turned off.

However, I would like to know if this is going to be a problem because I also have Virtualbox and Windows 10 installed on my MAC

I recall lots of people saying they didn't have an issue as well. I remember seeing the dongle registration process changed and I'm wondering if pcmflash has changed - don't feel like re-reading 14000 posts and may have to wait until I get home to find a windows laptop.

I have defender turned off. I'm running Windows 7 on Virtualbox 5.1.22. I removed all the virtualbox tools and set the virtualbox "bios" to report what the baremetal thinks it is (dmidecode).

ugh, yet another slow down / obstacle getting this installed.

Has to be windows XP or 10 I believe. Not sure 7 works

I have PCMFlash running in my VirtualBox on my OSX High Sierra MBP... it's a little laggy sometimes but it works fine and I didn't have to pick up a Windows PC for the job. I'm running Windows 10 Professional 64bit Insider Edition... and I have all updates turned off and, aside from downloading the tune files I keep it disconnected from an internet connection and have everything uninstalled down to the bare bones to keep size down on the partition.

Also allocate at least 32-50 gigs for Windows 10 on your MAC, lower amounts won't cut it. Not that you need to know this, just clarifying

I have 15GB HD and 4GB RAM dedicated and I would consider this to be about the minimum you could get away with - which is why I keep it off the internet and uninstalled literally everything that it would let me uninstall. If you have a huge hard drive I'd do whatever you can spare as it will likely run better but with my 256GB SSD on this machine I wanted to use the least possible given I just need the OS and the few MBs of stuff required for the tune.
