I could be wrong... But I doubt a larger heat exchanger would help such a small intercooler especially with heat soak. 7th injector with water/meth or e85 much more efficient

For me they just do the computer check with the odb2. It’d just be a matter if the ovtune shuts that off.....will the emissions inspection pick up on it, even if there are no cels???

That’s what I meant about catalyst monitoring and P0420/P0430. The front o2 is what the ECM uses to run the engine. The rear o2 is how the ECM monitors the catalytic converter performance. It compares what it sees before and after the catalytic converter. If there is no cat or the cat is bad, it will set P0420/P0430 (catalyst efficiency below threshold). If we can turn that functionality off, the CEL won’t come on.

Depends on where you live. Many places just use a computer to check your OBD2 port. If the ECM doesn’t have any codes and the emissions monitors are complete, it passes.

All this is great to know. I have no rear cats now......in time I wouldn’t mind getting rid of the front 2 and having that tuned into the ecu.

Might sound dumb but I'm going to use a product from red line called water wetter. Back when I built 2 stroke hi po motors it made noticeable temp drops even only mixed with water, no glycol. Kept motors together much longer. Wanted to hook up a temp gauge so I could do a before and after test. Online reviews are great. From industrial diesels to bb Chevy motors. I know it works, just want to see how much. I know red line to be great stuff, and it's only 10 bucks.

Water Wetter works great with water. Straight water is better at heat transfer than water/coolant mix.

You might want to check that Water Wetter is compatible with our red/pink coolant.

I don't think anyone has to worry about heat soak unless they were in high boost for extended periods of time. I.e. racing. Our system can easily accommodate 3-5 psi continuous boost and remain cool. The occasional romp of 10 psi lasts for maybe 10 to 15 seconds tops then your out of boost and the system cools back off.
I have an intercooler inlet and outlet gauge and have seen a 30° temp differential between inlet and outlet for at least 3 minutes during a long incline going up a mountain. This was at freeway speeds though so the fmic had plenty of airflow. Long slow runs in deep sand where you are in constant boost combined with the torque converter not locked up would create the highest demand on both the intercooler and the engine cooling system.

I have seen almost 50° max difference in inlet/outlet temps so our intercooler is definitely working!

@loginfailed ....So if you have the emission stuff tuned off. Would you necessarily have to block off anything? Could you just leave everything as is??

Thanks for the data share. My over active brain thinks of how to improve things. Toyota really did their homework on making this supercharger for this truck.

I definitely like the sound of that. I think adding in the disabling of emissions & cat monitoring will be in my future.

Water wetter works great. Especially when pushing an engine to the limits for extended periods. Redline Oil products are made by engineers that race their vehicles and constantly tinker to improve.

Ran it on all out race bikes back when I was a tech. It's a great product and works great. I can't imagine anything on our trucks bein an issue with running it so long as you flush out any glycol based coolant good first.

Water Wetter definitely works, ive been using it on all my two stoke dirt bikes for the last ten years at least. The stuff I have though doesn’t keep the water from freezing however.

Sorry to be a party pooper..... but @OVTune Where's the complete list of added ECUs that you said was going to be appended to the original post?

My TRD ECU calibration file 3YWG2900 is STILL not recognized on my OVT Handheld.
