PTR13-35150 - Bilstein TRD PRO kit - Upgrade??

I am way late to this party but did Toyota discontinue these kits? Or is there any place that still sells them?

 

I wonder if they can't change parts prices in the system but they can change shipping charges. And that was their way of telling Tacoma World to stop calling them 20 times Every. Single. Day.

That is kind off why I didint add the leaf I didint feel safe working on it with only the jack stand supporting the vehicle since u need to use the jack for the rear axcel! Also the jack stand location were the frame becomes flat seem too far towed the middle of the back door when I had the jack I it it seemed as both front and back tires want to come off the ground!

 

Getting ready to do the install this weekend. I just unboxed everything. I noticed the 2 rear shocks are both labeled "rr" like right rear. Is this normal or should one be "lr". I would assume both are the same.

Does anyone know the coil used on here? Im thinking of getting a shorter coil to bring my front end down some.

 

Turns out I’m getting new TSB leaf springs as part of the rear diff howl fix. Parts are a few weeks out or more. Not going to install this kit on my truck until I get the TSB done.

Now I’m torn between replacement leaf pack (Icon RXT, Dakar, Deaver), single leaf AAL, and 3-leaf progressive AAL. I’ll have brand new leaf springs that may have something to do with diff howl so I’m now leaning towards the 3-leaf. Not looking forward to the added install headache of the 3-leaf. Are there any 3-leafs that don’t require cutting and grinding of the bracket?

 

This is absolutely correct, good share..How many times I've see folks not do this. I've worked under cars/trucks for over 35 years and can tell you there is never too much safety.

 

I got the leaf TSB done about a year ago and I went with the 3 leaf AAL just because of that. Well that helped my decision and my budget because the AAL is less than half the price of a new leaf pack. I figure it will do for now and maybe in a year or two I will swap it out for a set of Dakars. Haven't had a chance to put everything in yet but I ended up with the Baja kit and not the Pro kit. Waiting on my friend that works at Toyota to get some spare time so I can install it at the dealer. As you get older a lift makes things so much easier.

 

Wish you were closer. I’m toying with the idea of going back to stock. Both our lives would be easier to just swap your TSB pack for my AAL installed pack.

My only hindrance for just pulling the AAL out is I cut off my factory retainer clips for the AAL install. Not sure the lack of those would be an issue on the leaf pack

 

Don’t like the ride of the Pro kit? Or are you chasing a bunch of new headaches with the lift?

I’m likely going to keep the TSB springs regardless until I better understand what is different on them to address the rear diff howl.

 

Not fanboy of the Pro ride.

I knew going into it that the on-road ride would stiffen up slightly, as with most any aftermarket supsension. I really liked the supple on-road ride of the stock OR suspension, but wanted the aesthitics a lift provides. The Pro suspension isn't unbearable, just firmer than I would have hoped for which is why I'm still debating what I'll do next, if anything.

For what its worth to you, I have not noticed the rear diff howl post lift that was present prior to adding the AAL. Granted, I am now running a mild A/T tire instead of the stock Goodyears.

 

I think it's an Eibach 600lb.

 

Ok cool, for. 2.5 im guessing. I just need to findnout what the free length is now.

 

Let’s see if these actually ship out.
