I have been hunting for a DCLB tacoma for quite some time now.. Originally was looking for a 2015 but came across a 2014 Tacoma with low miles. Are there any major differences between the two? Any reliability issues that were resolved in 2015 that the 2014 might have?

I know that they changed the clock position from the dash to inside the screen, but wasn't sure what other changes occurred.

    Thanks so much in advance!

They are the same version of the Taco. 2.2 Gen. any differences will be very minimal. If the truck is the configuration you are looking for, buy that puppy & be happy

Pretty much the same truck, the only difference could be in what stereo is in it.
I’d go with the one with the lower miles and if it’s a color you like.

Im pretty sure the 14 and 15's are completely the same. And 12 and 13's are the exact same of each other. I believe the only difference between the 12, 13 and 14,15 is the steering wheel controls for the stereo.

12 and 13's are not the same, at least not from what I remember while shopping for a truck. 12 had the old school head unit, non-touch screen setup. 13 was the first year they added the touch screen head unit. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

There is also a difference between the 13 and 14. 14 got rid of the nice compass/temp/auto-dim mirror for some reason. I think 14 and 15 are basically the same though, which the OP is wondering about

If the '14 has all you want, just buy it and be happy.

There are minor changes, but the big stuff is all the same.

Well yea you are wrong that the 12's had the old school head unit. I have a 12 and it has the touch screen NAV/Entune. Not sure about the newer ones. You could be right about the 14's losing the compass temp and autodim mirror stuff

Correct. '13 was the last year, even for being prewired. Even my 5 lug was prewired. Added a mirror and camera PnP. There's a couple of other small items too, but nothing that are show stoppers from buying a newer model.

Although I'm glad I landed a '13, even though I didn't realize it's 'feature rich' benefits at the time. :D

Thanks so much for your input everyone, this helps a ton.

I will probably schedule to look at it this weekend. One thing I noticed in a photo is that the previous owner looks like he installed a wooden bed liner. Is this something I should be worried about? Looks like it just comes out but didn't know if this was an indicator of heavy use on the axle / suspension

    Thanks!

See if you can check underneath that wood. Seems like he was just trying to protect the bed. If so, you've got a good condition bed under there.

I'm aware of a change in the software for the engine tune, but pretty much the same.

14's and 15's have zero functional differences.

2013 was the greatest year ever made.

Back up cam in the rear view mirror and true temp w compass.

    I’d hold out for a ‘13.

Honestly no difference between the years.

The wood liner scares me though o_O
Its awefully heavy to have back there.

That has to be one of the most original mods ever

Yeah it is a little bit worrisome to know all that wood was on the bed for quite some time. It's a super white too. I dont want to jump the gun on it but it seems like a great deal. $28k with 27k miles on it

Quite the original mod, yep. But does make me worry a bit... Might try to find a 2013 then, didn't know about the temp/compass / camera in mirror

    Is it a TRD Sport?

If so I’d jump on it provided the goofy wood liner has a good bed underneith.

You can’t beat a super white truck.

The rearview mirror is my favorite (stock) thing about my truck though. The self dimming feature still blows my mind, but I think ll trucks after 2013 have that feature.

Yep its a TRD Sport. I love the super white look a lot. I could probably deal without those features anyways.

They took the wood liner out and are going to spray it down. In the video they sent me it looks structurally perfect just a little dirty
