I agree that's the thinking with many people. Not me. I'll walk out if the dealership owning my 2018, and I'll keep it a minimum of 10 years.

There was another article circulating the forum. The vehicles original owners keep the longest, mostly Toyotas and the Tacoma was on there.

I do plan on purchasing a second car once I pay off my '16 Tacoma, but that's only because I'm turning it into a full-time adventure vehicle. :D I will probably get a Camry for a daily driver, or something equally basic.

Lets be fair...at least he was comparing two trucks in the same segment. And the prices weren't that far off. It could have been worse.

this guy does a lot of truck reviews (maybe cars also?), none of his articles are very informative. his technical expertise reminds me of this interview.

cant lie though, he does have a good gig.

Okay, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they each feature something he specifically wants?

Ahh, yes. This is indeed garbage. Thus, into the trash it goes.

I too would enjoy an 86. No family crew for life.

I can’t imagine what it’s like buying/owning a truck you can’t see yourself driving in 10 years. I’ve read so many posts about “I only keep a vehicle for two years and then swap for new” and it fully triggers my emotions.

A good friend of mine swaps his car/truck ever 2 years regardless of what shape it's in and how much he can get for it. To him he's bored with it and needs a new one. Drives me up the fucking wall.

Right? It takes me that long to accumulate enough mods for it to start feeling like its mine. I personally feel that if you're getting rid of a car every 2 years you're not picking the right one in the first place.

Even I'm a loyal Toyota owner and just bought my TRD OR recently but...I'm glad that Chevy, Honda, Ford are actively competing hard for the mid-size truck segment. Competition is healthy and will even bring us a much better Tacoma next time, I was shocked to see the Chevy came from factory with front Locker, and the last US spec'ed truck that has front locker was the Land Cruiser FZJ80, and I love to see my next generation Taco TRD OR comes from factory with front locker. And we could see diesel in the next Tacoma,...

Basically Tacoma needs good competitions so will have a better Tacoma next time...
