Just looking at OVtune and reading some reviews! Definitely considering because just recently put 285/70 on my Tacoma and not happy with the way the transition searches for gears 24/7 expecially on the highway and hopefully MPG increase a bit as this truck is my daily! Anyone that has the tune knows if this is cleared up ????

Sir, this is the manual trans thread. I dearly hope our transmissions are not gear hunting. If you Google ovtune alpha tune or ovtune auto trans, you will find the auto trans related threads. But yes, the gear hunting has been resolved :)

We certainly support your excitement over ovtune!

That has me confused. A new tune for logging purposes or.. a new tune based off of the log results?

I read it as a new version for continued datalogging to confirm that Mat's alterations are on the right track. Everyone else will get the finished product free of charge once it's complete

I believe you are correct, sir :hattip:

It's unlikely (although not impossible) that Mat will nail all the issues that some of us are having with 1.03B/C in one go. He often uses a stepped approach, see what works and carry on from there. I suspect that if too many changes are made in one file without feedback, the process would get confusing. Patience...

so, today i got some clarity on the throttle tip in problem. i was stuck in stop & go traffic for an hour and had to crawl and stop in first gear the whole time. i tried to do the following but couldn't... the tune wouldn't let me.

here's the challenge: drive in first gear at 1,000rpm steady. just hold it at 1,000rpm in first and keep it there. see if you can do it. this was literally impossible for my truck and i tried for a whole hour.

Did you find it would try and speed up about 200 rpm, then you lift and it falls below 1000? See saw?

Why could you not keep it there?

    I'll try

Yep same issue here. In the low end of things mine is “floaty” is the best way I can think of to describe it. It was very noticeable yesterday when I was leaving a parking ramp trying to creep along (I was in second gear). I’ve also noticed a 1-2 mpg loss with 1.03C vs 1.03/B driving the same routes. This is over about 1000 miles currently on 1.03C.

Debating flashing back to 1.03B just to verify I’m not crazy. Definitely seems to me it’s pretty funky in 1.03C in the <2500 rpm range. It does pull nice when you get on it but under lighter acceleration or just cruising (even at highway speeds of 65-70) seems off. At least on my truck.

constant see saw, like there is a particular resistance to settling at 1k rpm. i tried over and over to hold it right at 1k. no dice. yes modulation is somewhere up to 200rpm or so, maybe a bit less.

i had low throttle instability on 1.03B as well, but i didn't look into it as much since C was imminent.

Hum, interesting. I'm so curious about this now. I'll test it when I leave work today. I forgot to bring my laptop to log as I was running behind.
