I’m gonna order one real soon. I’m trying to decide if I want grey or black. Everyone does black, but not sure how grey would look against SSM.

I would probably go with black. Btw, before you order, call them and talk to them. They are super nice and gave me free shipping.

Yeah I'm gonna do that anyway, because I want the tinted rear window instead of the clear.

I ordered from their site and the tinted window came with mine anyway. It didn't look tinted at first, but that was mostly the lighting, and I can tell now it's definitely tinted.

Chances are that if you just order straight from their site you'll get the tinted one by default.

Did you get the tent attachment? I have the airbedz airmatress with the cut outs for the wheel wells. My wife and I slept in the softopper without the attachment the first time (we were in a parking garage after a concert). I woke up in the middle of the night panicking because my leg was cramping and I literally didn't have any way to stretch it out - That cramp still haunts me. I highly recommend the tent attachment if you plan to camp in it. Its easy to set up and adds a tarp type layer on top of it.

I find water still comes through even though I've put on three coats of seam sealer. The water comes from the bucke straps - it saturates them and then seeps all the way through and drips.

Yeah i will never do that again. I was trying to be incognito since we were in a parking garage. But never again. Especially with two people

Haha, I am luckily not the tallest guy but tried sleeping with closed tailgate...no more of that..lol. Thanks to DoorDing I did the same thing with fold out extention on my platform. I just put an EZ up over half of the topper for more protection. I sealed the seams as well and so far they are holding up great. Only water I get inside comes from the cabin sides were the side and back panels merge. Put some electrical putty around that corner and seems to work now.

Question, has anybody ever tried to paint the rails of the softopper?

Yea don't do it. I did it when I first got it. Ive been running it painted for about a year and a half. It looks like crap now. I plan to strip all the paint off this summer. Plus it's aluminum so you don't have to worry about it rusting.

Thanks for the advice. What kind of paint and primer did you use?

The process to get paint to stock to aluminum is a pain.

Rustoleum self etching primer. Then rustoleam gloss black enamel. Let it sit a few days to cure. Now it has chips and looks like crap at the mounts
