Hey there Tacoma World. I like to think of myself as a Toyota guy.. I have had a 2001 TRD since 2007 and just gave it to my son for his 16th birthday. Never had any issue with the truck except maybe a window regulator or a battery. This is why I bought a 2017 SR5 with 14K as my replacement. After a few days of driving I have noticed the slight shudder while slowing down through 20mph... now I confirmed I'm not crazy, it does it every time at exactly 20mph!

So I started searching the internet and found a ton of threads on transmission issues and now I want to vomit I'm so upset! I never thought to research tacoma issues, I feel stupid but I have never heard of anybody having any issues with Tacoma's?

There is so much info out there I feel overwhelmed, but the bottom line is I'm dropping it off at the dealer in the morning to get the Transmission level checked. The only problem now is I'm freaked out that the dealer won't check it right and tell me everything is ok...

    Anyone have any advice?

Welcome to TW! I'm not sure how the trans are setup for the 3rd gens, but for the 2nd gens (even though it is a sealed system) there is an overflow drain plug than you could check to make sure it's filled properly ... of course you would need to buy a few quarts of trans fluid just in case.

Thanks, I dropped it off at the dealer this morning for the 15K service and transmission fluid level check... Hopefully they do it right? I need to do some research on what you mentioned, I would like to do it my self... you know the old adage!

Don't worry about it man, despite what you see on the forums, the 3rd Gens are extremely solid trucks. Definitely get the trans. fluid checked, and while you're at it check your rear diff. level. They have some minor issues, but once they are fixed, and the truck gets dialed in, you're gonna love it. I guarantee it.

Thanks for the reassurance! I need to figure out how to check the rear Diff level checked? I love the truck so far, and dropped it off for the 15K service today which I didn't know was complementary!
