Any tips for installing the bj70 style grille insert? Seems like a little drilling or grinding is in order lol.

There's a couple of ways to do it.

One way is to first center the emblem on the blank spot of the grill. Then while the emblem is centered, mark where the pegs location is on the grille and drill holes through the grille insert where the pegs will then be pushed through. Next, push the emblems pegs through the holes in the grille and apply some epoxy or silicon to the pegs on the backside of the grille insert.

Another way to mount the emblem is to cut off the emblems pegs then apply some double sided 3M VHB tape and mount it centered in the blank area.

Just got a 2018 this week, I had a Pro Grill in my basket waiting on me to pull the trigger and some weird reason, came back to TW and found this post. This is EXACTLY how a quality grill should look. I'm just worried about the TSS mounting....I saw the post on the wire mesh, that's ok....but have you had any other design ideas?? I'm in for this, just would like a more concrete option. This may change your production, considering every truck from here on will have the sensor, and the 16s and 17s can still use it that don't have one.

I discussed the TSS with Travis when I picked mine up. I don't have a 2018 but we spent some time discussing alternatives to the mesh.

Just a quick convo about it. I think if there was a way to add some mounting points to the back side of the thing then have a small piece of plexiglass glass cut that will fasten to those points and have some other spots on it to mount the sensor it would come out relatively clean.

@watkins303 I’m interested in a 2018 version. Or come up with a clean way to add to your current version. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the interest, I'm pretty confident that I have some sort of simple mounting bracket that will work. However, need a Tacoma to test it out on before it's ready to roll, @chadabear and I are working something up. I'll keep everyone updated

I'll have inlay decals for the emblem in various colors soon, in case you are interested.

I may be. I was planning on hitting the raised part with some SSM touch up then going over that with some clear reflective.

Probably in the way the insert is made. I don't think the way it is formed allows for placing screw holes and clips easily.
