    how many miles does it need to change engine chain kit on? 1GR-FE?

    The timing chain on the 05-15s should be good for the life of the motor, unless youve got something wrong with it, id say leave it be. Timing belts like on the 1st gen v6’s are the ones that have to be changed every 100k miles. Welcome to the forum btw!:hattip:

    Maybe if the engine was getting pretty hi mileage like over 300k or so and you had to pull the timing chain cover for some other reason (like a leak) then you could do a chain replacement. They will stretch a little over time. Sometimes the tensioners will fail but that's rare.

    Best thing to protect the chains is regular oil changes. Keeps the tensioners healthy, the chain coated w/ good slippery oil, and keeps sludge from developing
