So that's how I get the trunk to open! Where do I get one of those?

    I order this: http://www.keyecu.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=4757
FCC ID: HYQ12BDP << This has to be exact match.

When key arrives, you have 2 options
    1. transfer transponder chip from old key to new key [I did this since my chip was already removed for the other flip key]
    2. program new transponder chip via techstream [youtube the video, it'll explain how to do it]

Once the chip has been programmed, you need to program the remote.
    1. Put key in ignition and turn to ON.
    2. Open techstream.
    3. Select MainBody
    4. Click on Utility
    5. Select Wireless Code Registration and follow the prompts.
BTW, you should get the key cut by a locksmith.

If I can figure out where the wiring for trunk release is, it wouldn't be a bad idea for a powered tailgate lock.

"Stick" around dood, you gots knowledge. Granted the banter in here is more along the line of MT affect but there are common parts in this Venn diagram.

Since a key is still required (naturally, since we have an ignition), I'll admit to not understanding the excitement I'm seeing over this rav4 fob...

No worries. We weren't upset about your mishap. Just pointing you in the right direction since this is the MT thread. No biggie if you join in on our shenanigans.

Why was it zipped? If you want I could send the 103b to you.

Are you referring to techstream? Try using 7zip to extract it.

It's my inner geek. I prefer the flip key fob over the standard key and have been searching for a better solution than the one that is currently available.

    @nxcess

Can you clarify the part in bold please, not following exactly what and where. Can you break it down Barney style for me...LOL

    Unrar Techstream to a folder.
    1. install the Techstream V12.10.019.
    2. right click the techstream shortcut icon on your desktop
    a. select "open file location"
    b. copy the "MainMenu" exe from the unrar'd folder and replace the "MainMenu" exe in the folder.
    3. When it ask for the key, copy and paste the string of numbers from the key.txt files.
To use the hardware from the Tune, in TechStream, at the top of the program, you should see "Setup". Select that and go to "VIM Select". Change interface to "OpenPort 2.0 J2534".

Step B, copying the Main menu and replacing it in another file/folder.

When you extracted techstream, it should have created a folder with 3 files.
    1. In that folder, right click the mainmenu.exe file, and a selection menu should pop up. Select and click on copy.
    2. On the desktop, there should be an icon label techstream. Right click that icon, and at the selection menu, select & click "open file location"
    3. A folder should appear with a bunch of files. Right click on empty spot somewhere in the folder, and at the selection menu, select & click "paste".
    4. It'll ask if you want to overwrite/replace the file. Select yes.

I had the parts of copying from the unrar'd and opening the desktop file, the replace part is where it got a little fuzzy. Techstream is installing now and I should be GTG from this point. Thanks for the clarification.
