Okay. I may demand that I take it to a body shop of my choosing in that case. I don't want B grade work done on my new truck just because the dealership is getting a deal.

if the truck is Super White there is NOT clear coat on it to begin with. it is a single stage paint. it is not base coat, clear coat.

I would be upset to, like anyone else on here. Let them have their chance and make it right, if you don't like the result take it somewhere else. I don't believe you have anything to worry about though.

It’s not white that’s my bad, it’s quicksand. :( I feel for him. New truck, scratched by dealer. That sucks. And I don’t know if any single stage paint from Toyota. I could be wrong but, every white car we repaired at Benz was cleared. We were certified Toyota/Honda/Hummer/Nissan facility

I hear ya, OP. I'd have the same concern as you if it were my truck. You're in a pickle. As stated, the whole panel should be repainted for a "correct" fix. Don't let them paint a 10x10" area. But I'm with you, hard to disrupt that factory finish. Both options on the table suck (leave it or paint it).

That said, I think I'd take the chance and have the panel repainted. I'd be looking for a reputable body shop and have the dealer pay to get the work done.

Just to be clear, are you saying they strip the clear coat off the whole door or strip everything and repaint the whole door then clear coat over new paint?

It’s not necessarily B grade work. Just ask that it be done to the highest standard. Ask that the door be properly repaired not just a spot repair. 10x10 spot will need to be feathered in. Just have a conversation with the “ Fixed Operations Manager “ or the General manager, be polite, explain it’s a new truck, you scratched it. I want a proper repair not a spot repair. I would like the door torn down, handle removed and properly painted and cleared. Not spot and buff. If they do a spot and buff you will end up with trouble at the door handle.

Straight from a letter from Toyota after I inquired about this issue after two days of ownership of my Super White 2018 Taco...

Thank you for taking time to contact Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. and congratulations on purchase of a 2018 Tacoma TRD Sport.
We appreciate the opportunity to address your inquiry regarding the paint of your 2018 Tacoma TRD Sport.
We have checked the serial number of your vehicle, and there is no clear coat on the paint.
We only use clear coat on pearl or metal flake paints.

They don’t need to repaint the entire door.
The procedure would be to wet sand the door, sand out the scratch, paint the scratched area, of course this will include a larger spot than just the scratc. Than re clear the entire door, so there is a solid outer coating. As the entire door will be re cleared. A good painter will make that perfect and invisible. If the dealer doesn’t like the idea. Get a quote from a good shop in town.

^^ Well said and accurate info. I took my dads truck in to my favorite local body shop to have a scratch fixed just like the OP's. He straight up said "I can't fix that without removing and repainting the whole door." That's the kind of guy you want fixing your truck.

The 10x10" offer to the OP is an effort to skate out of this as easily as possible imo. They're not wrong in making the offer. Many would be completely satisfied with that. Others aren't, including myself. Especially when it's a near new truck and a bad scratch.

Ask for a new door. No bondo/patched paint/patched clearcoat will last nearly as long as a blemish-free new door freshly painted.

No matter how they paint it it will have to be blended into the door. Whatever you do pick it up in the daylight and don't sign off on it unless its right. I would make the dealer fix it. If you take it to your choice of repair then once you sign off on the repair the dealer is done with you after the bill is paid. If It falls apart later then your on your own. I wish I had your dealer. They screwed up and manned up and say the will fix it. You have every right to be upset about the accident but not on how responsive the dealer is trying to deal with you. I doubt 10 % of the dealers out there would man up without a fight. Be glad it wasnt a shopping cart in a parking lot it would be comming out of your pocket.
