The distractions have become a significantly bigger problem as of late too. I routinely see people driving whilst staring at their dumb phones and, with more frequency, having some kind of video running on their dash-mounted phone. Combine this with the UBER/LYFT drivers that have no idea about the area they're driving in, the problem is exacerbated significantly.

It's interesting how people's behavior changes when they're driving. Being protected by a hunk of metal is similar to hiding behind a keyboard... To me, it shows their real personalities.

After modding different vehicles for years; I noticed the more it looks modded, the more respect you get on the road. Especially when a truck looks like it’ll fuck up their shit.

Like the other guy said, steel bumpers normally scare people away from getting too close unless they don’t care about their vehicle and want insurance money, which I hear California is notorious for insurance fraud.

I've actually found the opposite. When I had the Rav4 loaner for 6 weeks during the recall, people were regularly riding my ass (I'm one those those people that goes the speed limit) and aggressively passing around me. In the Tacoma, people tend to hang back, and don't pass me at nearly the same frequency.

And I wouldn't call these "smaller trucks" - They are far larger vehicles than pretty much everything that isn't another truck.

I agree with that - people don't pass as much. I do see A TON of people just trying to block you out and keep you from moving between lanes. Like one of the other guys was saying, you try to merge lanes and their front end picks up as the try to block the lane.

This and other ridiculous crap happens to me with such frequency that my wife now refuses to believe me! I'm strongly considering getting a dash cam just to show her how crazy people are

Nothing ticks me off more, than drivers (men & women) speeding up to try and block a clean lane change or merge. If there's room, I'll slot in anyway. My typical style on the street is to drive confidently, not aggressively, or timidly.

Try China, newfound consumerism and no concept of driving skills. Made me look back at Chicogo traffic with a new degree of appreciation.
