Dude, I can't even tell you how hurt I was when she was telling me this, and seeing her crying her eyes out. It's like it was me that it happened to. I don't get how people allow things to get to the way they are to have something like this happen. I really don't. It's real sad.

Agreed. The school my wife teaches at is in probably the poorest neighborhood in town, so I'm sure there are a few other similar cases. The details of this one were really really depressing. I had tears in my eyes.

When the time comes, and if you have any kind of decency in you (which seems to me like you do), regardless if you feel like you're mature enough or not, your instinct kicks in. That's how I felt. I thought I was ready, we tried, it happened, I freaked the fuck out, but when my son was born I made it a priority to put him first regardless. Even if it means I have to starve to support him. Same when my daughter was born. I'm not saying I'm the perfect father, hell no. I have flaws, I know I do. But I try my best to do as much as I possibly can with them. Even if it means me not doing something I really wanted to, or had planned. They're the priority.

Definitely. It's really sad to see this type of shit. I've heard stories of it happening to people, sure, but this one "hit" close to home because it "affected" my wife directly kind of. Not saying my wife is the greatest teacher in the world, but she cares for her kids like they were her own when they are in the classroom. This little girl has a special place in her heart, and today that was impacted in a personal way.

And to add to all of this, I fucking lost my playoff game in over time. FFFUUUCCCKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As if I wasn't already bummed out enough.

Yelling “world star!!!!” Is my favorite past time.

I like driving in Boston for this reason.

Shit is fucked man. Seems like a great time for you to be there for her and support her, maybe she’ll return a favor ;) no but seriously that shit is rough and hearing stories like this make me appreciate my life a whole lot more. Some people have it fucking rough. Never take shit for granted.

I’m close with a few social workers. My good friend’s mom used to work in that field and would have to yank children out of less than ideal living conditions

Morning all. Happy Friday - I'm more than ready to put this hell hole work week behind me.

At this rate, they better paint the baseballs fluorescent yellow so they don't blend in with the snow...

Oh professional sports...what a way to waste your time and money. I'm sorry, but I hate all pro sports and I can't support them in any way. Go outside, read a book, spend time with your family....or you could sit on a couch and get fat while giving your money to someone who is good at moving a ball around. :stirthepot:

I know that it isn't a popular opinion and I have actually almost been beaten up for it before. Was talking to some UNC kids at a bar in Raleigh and when I gave them my thoughts on baseball and sports in general (If you aren't playing them, I am for sports, just not pro and NCAA) they did not react well and I had to go find some other people to talk to

I have watched a little, obviously it isn't on much, they do seem to be putting college games on more and more

I played for a year in h.s. (didn't have a team until senior year) it was fun and most of the kids were the same kids I played other sports with. I know there is a huuuuuge "lax bro" stereo type and joke scene, I just never really got it. We didn't have lax as kids though in our area (they do now) and so maybe we missed that scene.

I grew up playing hockey and lacrosse. Cant stand baseball or basketball. I honestly prefer watching college for most sports

I enjoy watching hockey and baseball. For Bruins and Red Sox games, neither are appointment viewing (especially red sox since there are 162 games). But when I like watching them at night when I am winding down for the night. Bruins games I typically won't watch start to finish, but a 2/3 of its. Red Sox games I usually catch 3-4 innings a game unless it really holds my attention.

I didn't mean to make a debate over professional sports I was just trying to change the subject. It was getting pretty heavy
