Bed extender fit for 17' Tacoma

    I kept the brackets it came with that way if my tailgate is locked there is no way for someone to steal it, since you have to lift it up towards you and it only pulls out when at 45 degrees.

    Besides the quick release brackets did you need anything else for it to work with the bed cover?

    No. That is it. Just remember you wont be able to do the flip on the bed extender with the X4 but you can slide it into the bed backwards and lock it into the brackets.

    So with the cover on I have to remove the extender, then slide it back into the brackets? If the cover is rolled up can I do the flip?

    With the cover rolled up, the locking latches on either side are at an up angle. The HD MAX is too wide to clear the latches so you can't do the flip with the extender in the brackets. With the X4 open or closed, you will need to slide the extender into the bed and latch it down. If you need a picture of the problem, I might be able to get one tomorrow.

    saw that. The tacoma rails have a different latch.
