For everyone that is looking for an all aluminum high performance radiator, I have finally found it! This is a 2 row heavy duty/high performance radiator from CSF that was originally made for 2007-2014 FJ Cruisers and 2003-2009 4Runners. This radiator WILL fit in 2005-2015 Tacoma's with minimal modification to the fan shroud and transmission cooler lines if your truck is an automatic. Here is a little history of how this radiator was discovered and implemented in our trucks.

Living in hot climates like Texas I have exceeded my stock cooling system in the summertime as I have seen coolant temperatures exceed 210 degrees just idling with the A/C on. This was with the stock thermostat and with URD's 170 degree thermostat. This was unacceptable to me so I was originally planning on fabricating my own increased capacity radiator. During my search I stumbled across this recently released CSF radiator for the FJ and 4Runner and wondered if it would fit our Tacoma's. I contacted the marketing department at CSF and spoke with Ken (he is awesome) to see if they would entertain the idea of using these on a Tacoma. They promptly provided me the dimensional drawings and from a quick look at my truck it looked like it would work but may have interference issues with the lower transmission cooler lines due to the FJ radiator being 2" taller. I was getting really excited at this point and had to see if this thing was going to work so I purchased a radiator. To make a long story long, it works! It takes slight modification to the fan shroud and lower transmission cooler lines if you have an automatic tranny but it fits amazing and looks like a high performance oem part! After I knew it worked, I contacted URD to get Gadget on board with supplying these to our community. As most of you know he has been around Toyota's forever and has probably done more for the Tacoma community than any other single vendor so URD was my first choice on supplying these bad ass radiators!

URD has them available on their website now at:
    https://www.urdusa.com/hd-high-performance-radiator-fj-cruiser-4runner-tacoma-4-0l-v6/

Now to the good stuff! Details and pics.

    20180203_150051.jpg
    The quality is amazing!

    20180203_133355.jpg
Since the CSF radiator is 2" taller than stock, the bottom lip of the shroud needs to be cut off then re-attached to the bottom of the shroud to prevent the lip from rubbing on the radiator. I just super glued it on to tack it in place, then used rtv for strength and to seal it up.

UPDATE: The FJ Cruiser fan shroud (need to buy reservoir tank as well) not only fits the radiator perfectly but fits perfect with the engine fan as well! If you dont want to trim your stock fan shroud you can just purchase the FJ parts and the only modification is just clearancing the transmission cooler lines.
Big thanks to @loginfailed for pioneering this and sharing with the rest of us!

    20180203_132520.jpg
Trim the bottom lip of the shroud off flush with the sides of the shroud then re-attach to the bottom of the shroud. This will prevent the bottom lip from rubbing on the radiator and restore the structural integrity of the bottom of the shroud.
    20180204_133616.jpg
Here you can see where the bottom lip was cut, re-attached and rtv'd. I also used weatherstripping I found at Amazon which I placed on the front of the bottom lip and front sides of the shroud to maximize airflow through the radiator.

    20180203_133321.jpg

You can see a small gap between the radiator and shroud. Weatherstripping sealed it right up.

    20180203_170630.jpg

The top holes of the shroud don't quite line up with the radiator. Re-drill as highlighted.

    20180203_151851.jpg

Here you can see the taller radiator hits the transmission cooler lines. I bent the cooler line brackets down about 1/2" by hand.

After bending the tranny cooler line brackets.
    20180203_145717.jpg
The radiator mounts fit perfectly to the the front bulkhead of the truck with no modification required.

    Mounted.

    Install complete! Enjoy.

EDIT: Stock vs CSF capacity it is as follows:
    Stock 70oz
    CSF 120oz

If you buy one please let me know so I can add you to this list.

My rig was having trouble keeping temps in check last summer. This is a welcome addition. Thanks, @Roostfactor for taking a leap on this and getting the ball rolling.

    Order placed, @Gadget@URD :boink:

Know it is still winter more or less but any significant differences in temps with the new one installed?

Hey, @Roostfactor do you have a link to which weatherstripping you used?

EDIT: Just saw the link there in between the pics. Nevermind :anonymous:

Since there are a ton more Tacomas than FJ Cruisers why don't they just make one for the Tacoma?

Not currently, like you said the temps are still cool so you wont see a difference until you exceed the limit of the stock cooling system. I have also installed a Motorad 456-160 thermostat which is a 160 degree thermostat. It has worked perfectly for me even in the winter. My minimum temp that I see with this thermostat is 168 and max of 178. Thank you @Torspd for the thermostat find! He gets all the credit for that one.

Good question and one which I don't have an answer for. It is really simple to modify the shroud and we end up with a slightly taller radiator anyway which is a bonus!

Heck yes! Last summer my truck was getting extremely hot. I might have to put off my other mods and gst this bad boy. Thank you for doing the leg work on this!

And screw it, I just ordered this bad boy. I am fooling myself if I think it’s safe to keep using this stock rad once summer comes around. In the desert just driving around normally my temps hit 215 eng and 240 trans when i stopped at a red light, ac stopped working.. it was all bad! No more of that.

This rad will definitely help with that. That kind of temp is warped heads hot!

I also put the weatherstripping around the inner portion of the shroud where the fan fits in. If you look closely at the second pic above you can see what I am talking about. It helps to seal the fan to the shroud and if by chance there was enough engine movement that the fan hit it, the weatherstripping will give hopefully not destroying the fan. I have had no clearance issues with it.

I was crapping my pantaloons. Turned ac off, revved up the rpms a little and watched the temp slowly go down. I think I will pair this rad with a bigger trans cooler and call it a day.

I’ll order some of that too right now. Back when I called Ron Davis inquiring about their cooler he seemed to think it was an airflow issue and suggested adding weather stripping around the rads/ac to force the air through the heat exchangers more.
