The 1yo is starting to move a lot. The 4yo is pretty good now but when she was younger I would get so pissed when my wife would keep moving her to our bed because she kept kicking me.

yeah it's going to be interesting at the end of the month to see how it performs if I can't get new leaf springs by then. Might do a test run next weekend with the RTT and several sand bags in the back to see how it holds up...if it's bad I think I can grab the OME leaf pack from 4WP in Covina and throw those on before the trip.

True...it would just make getting to the trail that much more expensive lol.

I accidentally hit 87 octane at the Arco pump yesterday, after agreeing to the 35 cent debit card fee. Had to cancel it and do it over again for 91. It was like kicking a man while he's already down.

eh, it's still cheaper per gallon for premium with a 35c debit card on top charge than most anywhere else.

edit: unless I'm a dumbass and hit 87 first, and have to pay it twice lol.

I don't go to Arco because you can only use a debit card or cash.

    Normally go to Costco

yeah Costco is the only one that would be cheaper for good gas than Arco, but the closest one is still a drive for me and it's always packed. Would rather just go to Arco.

I normally wouldn't really care but the boosted 3.4l is thirsty for the good stuff, and it does add up

    Oh don't get me wrong.
    I HATE GOING TO COSTCO.

I only go in the morning after I drop the kids off at day care or maybe at night just before the pumps close.

We've got 3 munchkins so went the annex route and it's working out really well. We picked up a decent COSTCO air mattress that fits between the ladder and the truck and now it's just the basic arguments about who sleeps whereo_O

That's only applicable to 3rd gens (maybe 2nd), if it wasn't featured on Expedition Overland then no one on instagram cares about it

double cab 3rd gen + CBI bed rack + CVT RTT + bright orange Maxtrax and Hi-Lift mounted on the sides with Rigid lights = instant social media fame

I agree I think they're way overpriced, only reason I considered this one was because it was (relatively) cheap compared to others. But for $800, I'll get more practical use out of it than several other things I've seen people buy for their trucks for $800 or more, but to each their own.

I'm getting my fiancé more into the camping/outdoor life and the appeal was there to her as well, to have a nicer quality tent than the ones we've been using on the ground that seem to get holes in them or fall apart after a few uses (could buy a better quality ground tent, true). My last two were REI ones and they weren't cheap though. We both like the idea of not being on the ground though and in some cases I can see it being an advantage; wet ground, mud, sand (hard to stake a tent in), and extreme wind where the risk of the tent coming out of the ground is a possibility.

I don't really buy into the whole "it's safe because it's elevated" argument; bears and cougars and what have you can just as easily get to an RTT. But it does seem less likely to get infiltrated by spiders and I fucking hate spiders. That's almost worth a few hundred to me right there.

Who knows, at the end of the day I might look back on it and think of better ways I could have spent $800 on my truck, I'm leaning toward the opposite personally but time will tell.

The built in mattress was a big sell for her, up until now we've been using those inflatable mattress pads that never seem to hold air very well and aren't that thick. Short of bringing my own mattress pad along in my truck, this seemed like a pretty big plus. It does make it heavy as fuck though

Oh and I'm totally aware this is glamping I'm describing, but I do my fair share of actual camping as well every year. Climbing Mt. Whitney last summer my dad and I barely had the room in our backpacks to carry more than a tent, let alone a sleeping bag. But that kind of camping I do when I go hiking, when I go out in my truck it's a different experience.

I'm starting to get a backpacking camp set up together. Just picked up a great backpack. Hoping to get into some hiking/camping trips soon. Now I just need to get my lazy ass in shape.
