    I'd hate for you to scratch your little front air dam.

    You’ll use the locker never unless you’re seriously off-roading but it’s your call with a new truck.

    Personally I love the hood scoop, just me. Plus I bought my truck for $30,500 cash so I’ll put on Kings on front and something on back staying close to stock heigth.

    I’d spend the money and get some metal bumpers and skid plates, you’ll have to do this with all models if needed, though.

    $30k...?

    Tacoma's were fresh on the lot when I was buying. Not a lot of room to haggle, but OR's and Sports were neck and neck in pricing here in the Midwest.

    Off Road and Sport have the same exact MSRP, lMHO the OR is a better value for the money.

    If your gonna lift them... Your changing the shocks... With manual, your losing crawl control... That rear locker will come in a lot more handier than you'd think actually, in terms of re-sale value, Sports hold their value better since people assume you've been keeping on the road most of the time. These are the reasons I chose the Sport 4x4 (although I should've gotten it with a rear locker), overall the the faux hood scoop looks pretty aggressive (its why its also on the Pro). Take a peep at my truck, 2017 Sport 4x4 DCSB, 3" lift on 285's

    Towing, Off-roading, Hauling, Mudding, Rock-Crawling.

    Sure, you can tow just fine with a Sport, but with the extra money you paid, I would think you'd want offroading features vs a fancy hoodscoop that you could have bought from the dealer for 400 bucks...

    Most guys here swap suspensions, so ultimately it comes down to aesthetics.

    Explain to me how exactly I can't do all those things you just said with my 4x4 sport? Lol. TRD sport 4x4 is pretty much the state truck here in Hawaii brah. I'd take the looks of my sport over an off road any day. Most of us here would. Bumbai I need a locker I'll let you know

    The void in the hood scoop is where I reheat my leftovers. It’s also a good place to hide that spare house key

    Agreed anyone that thinks any Tacoma 4x4 stock can’t go where any other one can hasn’t done so.

    If you want to rock crawl with a brand new truck go right ahead. Most people I know that seriously crawl have a beater rig to do that, or a sand/dune buggy.

    Nah I like the looks of the Offroad better. But I’m one of the few in Hawaii that also don’t care for the big wheel and small tire combo. Plus the locker and Atrac in the off-road gives me much more confidence in the soft sandy beaches we have here. A friends tacoma got stuck in the sand where as I didn’t because of the Atrac.

    Sorry man, that is just not true. OR holds their value much better than Sport, given same options.

    Nice truck though.

    Sport = better for city driving.
    OR = better for off road.

    Sport = stiffer suspension, better handling.
    OR = plusher suspension, more capable suspension off road.

    Sport = hood skooop, colored flares
    OR = e-locker and crawl control

    Sport = favorite amongst women
    OR = favorite amongst men

    OR has better resale.

    I don't even know to start other than at least 3 names on here I recognize chuckled at this like I did.

    Crawl control AT - A-trac on MT

    The locker? Just resale? Sure. I guess if you don't know when to use a locker.

    Resale value, you're on crack .

    And you went with the scoop because it looks aggressive? Save 5k, get an sr5, put a 3inch lift, 285/75/16s on it with a bumper and winch and you're just at about that 5k gap. That makes it look aggeessive.

    No one's bagging on the sport if you have one. But to say it's money better spent is just wrong and the features are weak is just false.

    What is the point of having a locker and crawl control if its a daily driver hauling things back and forth from home depot as the majotiry of these trucks are used for? The sport can and will handle any urban terrain so the value of something never to be used is quite relative and a not relavent for majority of owners. The look of the truck is something that is present everyday, so it makes sense to value that. Sorry to bust the OR but most dont need those features and would rather look good with the scoop while maintaining capable drivability

    Didn't read the thread, as I suspect this will be like every other OR or Zport thread.

    For the money, the OR is the better purchase. But dam the sport looks awesome and drives awesome. I would say a good portion of folks only buy the OR for the locker, as they change the shocks and what not almost as soon as they get the truck.

    It doesn't matter which one you buy, just get a manual trans.:hattip:

    Price difference between a 2017 sport and off road is $1,200 resale already.
