Mt vs at is another fight we havent got to yet. Id rather just push a pedal instead of the constant feet stomping hand jerking of the mt. They both go forward, just wanna relax when i do it

I own an off road but I do like that the sport comes with a color matched rear bumper without paying for the P&T package.
I haven’t used my e-locker on my off road and have only used crawl control once. I would have been a good candidate for the sport.
I thought the Resale value between the sport vs off road was a myth but according to KBB in my zip code the Off roads are worth more.

2017 TRD sport with 22k miles values at $32,563 private party value in mint condition
    https://www.kbb.com/toyota/tacoma-d...7576604|true|7576563|true&condition=excellent

2017 TRD off road with 22k miles values at $33,764 private party value in mint condition
    https://www.kbb.com/toyota/tacoma-d...7576459|true|7576421|true&condition=excellent

Short term the resale on the off road is better but I wonder with all the extra electronics in the OR would the resale be better long term.

Just like Sport vs OR, that is subjective. I'd say the AT is not relaxing. I have never found one that I liked. Different reasons for the different types.

Maybe hiway itd be okay, but with city driving, traffic, red lights, sometimes barely get out of 3rd gear

Good price. They shouldve had an option to put a sport hood on an OR and we could all live in peace

30k for sr5 must be base model? I know you can get the SR5 optioned up to be very close price-wise with a sport or OR.

This is how I look at it... I go to the dealer to buy a USED Tacoma, I see a USED OR and a USED Sport 4x4, I would automatically assume that the OR has taken a beating and has been driven above moderate use... Since it says OFF-ROAD and is meant for OFF-ROAD use. Looking at the Sport with 4x4, I assume that the previous owner barely used the 4x4 and drove the truck mainly on the streets/highways, this is just my .02 cents. Of course we're all entitled to our own opinions and takes on these such things, I DONT'T regret not having crawl control since I'd rather be in charge, I DO regret not having a locking diff since you don't always need 4x4 off-road, but will need a rear locking diff more often.

I'm not sure if the Sports come with locking diffs, but if your off-road you'll find that you will at time only need the rear locker to get you out of that hairy situation. Thats all

No issues wheeling with my Sport. Just get what you want. I’m planning on re-gearing later so I’ll add a locker just to have it in case
