I check craigslist every couple of days for HAM radios. If I find someone letting one go at a decent price I'll probably just pick that up. I saw your California plates. Where are you from? I grew up in Eureka, CA/Humboldt County.

From CT originally, but spent the 4 years out in Pacifica and then recently moved back east (Boston area). I miss the wide openess of Cali... thats about it... Spent some time up on the Lost Coast, and visited the redwoods, wanted to get back up before we left... but didnt happen... so much to explore up in Humbolt and Eureka, real NorCal area.

    Where in jersey are you?

Ive got family in north jersey.

I was exploring Wharton a few days ago with a friend. It's a lot of fun and it's free. If you need someone to go with then let me know. I'd be happy to go again.

It works great. It gets very loud.
    I bought this
Belkin Rockstar Multi Headphone Splitter (Light Green) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00904WS2K?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
and have cb, HAM, and gps all plugged in to it. Obviously if two or more are making noise at the same time you get a mashup of sound but they don't otherwise interfere with each other

on your smart phone install LetGo and OfferUp search for ham radio, amateur. cb etc.. Beware if you see someone selling a Kenwood, Icom, Motorola, or Yaesu "CB", it's probably stolen.

Also, join a local ham radio club. I've bought a ton of stuff from members. It seems a lot of ham radio operators buy the latest and great then put it on a shelf after a couple months.

I hope you aren't using the cigarette lighter to power it. That won't be able to put out nearly enough angry pixies to run full output.

Nice cant wait to hear how the TH 7 compares to the Hexbeam. When my 80m wire was up the feed point was 50' off the ground. I had a hand full of DX contacts with it on 100w. I have few things coming to get my Hexbeam back in the air.

I actually ordered the TH 11. After 3 weeks later I called them and I had to wait another 3 weeks. So I switch my order to do TH 7. That's been sitting in the garage all winter. I just bought another house with 9 acres of land. Waiting for the closing. So I can start my antenna farm. I have a QRZ PAGE K2TRD Check it out.

Anybody here running a stationary mobile HF setup? Trying to get some ideas. Thinking about a flag pole hitch mount with a fiberglass mast and ham stick dipole.

I'm running a Diamond mount close to that configuration. I wasn't able to put the diamond on the back of my door because there's a little lip that I imagine is used to stabilize it and it scratched the clear coat when you open it. I stuck mine on the top of the door and it's holding on well, even after the antenna hit a parking garage ceiling when I forgot to fold it down.
I'd steer clear of the Diamond mount though because it's scratched a hole in my clear coat and my paint because the "protective" rubber on the bottom almost immediately came loose and exposed the sharp metal edge. Thinking about trying to file it down so it doesn't start scratching into the metal. Or at least finding a rubber cap I can put on it. :(

    https://www.diamondantenna.net/k400cnmo.html
You can see the little metal lip on that mount.
