Off topic...Is that deer valley trails south entrance "gate keeper"? And if so, did run the trail in your semi stock truck? Annnd you are going around the obstacle!

Yes it is. I didn’t know it was that well known. In fact, I didn’t even know the name of the trail until we got home a day after we were supposed to. Had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. It starts so easy coming from Blue Lake. Little did I know the gate keeper, our last obstacle, might be what kept us from getting to hiway 4. Have you done it? My brother’s LC and my Taco are both stock, minus sliders. Actually he has 285/75/16 duratracs and he was having a much easier time. Now you know why I’m trying to put larger tires on my truck. Your damn right we went around that obsticle. There was no way we were going back out the way we came. We wanted out of that nightmare so bad. Scuffed up my bumpers a little, but I’ll be replacing those eventually so I thought I made out pretty good considering.

 

Have not done that trail, but agree 33s run and look better in 285.

I have 285/75R16 on a 1.75” lift with no rubbing. I did my homework/math though and picked the right wheel (4.5”backspacing) that hardly rubs anything and then did a minor cab mount chop.

Did a flex test (using forklift =]) on full turn and no issues

 

Yeah it’s a really fun trail! I ran it south to north though. Good job getting through with a basically stock truck. That trail has some tricky spots/ rocks. I personally thought it was harder (more fun as well) than slickrock.

Good luck with the bigger tires. Not sure what size I’ll go with for my tacoma. Really love my 35’s now..here’s that same obstacle.

 

Was that Hunter Lake Trail..in post #12? My stock skidplate still has a dent from that rock if it is.

It would be fun in that jeep! I'm so jealous of how easy it must have been for you. We were pretty much building a road as we went with rocks so we wouldn't get stuck or destroy our trucks. I'm sure you can imagine. Where is slick rock? Seeing the gate keeper brings back bad memories.

 

Does ">" mean Total Chaos are better than SPC?

Yeah, we went through the second weekend it was open last year so it was fresh trail. Didn’t stack any rocks though. Used both front and rear lockers thats for sure.

Slick rock is just down highway 4 a little way. Not bad going north to south.
