Don't think my case has anything to do with tinting. Nothing to do with pressures, we had the side windows open an inch or so. I challenge anyone to spot a rock flying, I have looked over and over, and like I said, i would have seen a rock big enough to do that damage flying at. Wont go into why, but I have a trained eye for detecting motion like that.

So, I think the motor came on for what ever reason. Super glad I had the cam, it is nice to confirm what you remember. Also you can look for stuff you would not normally see, like for kids hiding on the side of the road throwing stuff. I can investigate all sorts of things in the video...get a cam!

Toyota Canada says that the window is designed to shatter on impact, the cause is usually a rock or debris impacting the window at some point. Even though a rock did not show to hit the window at the time of fracture, it could have been hit at an earlier time and then will crack when the conditions are right.
What freaking bs is that? I have the case number and will call and email them the video and have them listen to it. No one has time for this shyt.... oh and the price for them to replace is $1057.88 Candian dollars. Glass shops here won't touch them, so it is either the dealer or auto body shop. Last
kick, some dumbasses parked the truck outside.....when it was snowing.. lucky for me I taped the crap out the inside, but some water is dripping.
    Supper pissed.

not holding my breath but im hopeful.

if what they are saying is accurate, a rock chips it, then later it brakes. what could you put on the glass to protect it? Im not buying it yet, but im reading about it.

perhaps my little video with evidence of the motor turning on may do some convincing.

Yep, I took a glass baking pan out of the oven and after removing the food figured I would soak it (back when I was a youngin’ and didn’t know any better) and it shattered like I threw it off a wall!

"An exploding sunroof might sound like a freak occurrence, but a Consumer Reports investigation has found that it’s not. These incidents have happened in every month of the year in every part of the country, in vehicles from all over the world; they have occurred on interstates, on country roads, and even while parked in driveways.

Sunroofs have significantly expanded in size in recent years, and they’ve also grown in popularity. And the number of consumer complaints about them shattering without warning has soared."

I accidentally turned the burner on the stove on high under a glass baking pan and the food in it started boiling away, surprised it did not shatter or explode.

Sorry to hear this man. Make sure to file it with the next level up. I know dealers won’t do shit up here for US bought vehicles until they are threatened by Toyota Canada. I’ve seen friends go through it with their US bought tundra.

That sucks. The sunroof in my GTI would mysteriously open slightly and then close again a couple of seconds later. Luckily it didn't try to go past the end of the track like that. My upper console became loose as it got older so I think some of the switches weren't making proper contact. One of my map lights had to be set in the "on" position to get it to turn off and if I pushed up on the console it would work like it was supposed to. Weird.

I hope the dealership does the right thing.

Don't know how handy you are but car-part.com. Had quick look and seen complete with motors for 250, one of many. I damn sure wouldn't pay 1000....

After the drain tubes on my last car froze causing melt water to collect in the sunroof tray, which then came through the headliner/ map lights when I started driving, I swore I would never buy a car with a sunroof again.

No giant holes in the roof of my taco

well, my insurance covers this, no deductible. and the dealer is installing. Odd, but glass shops here don't repair sunroofs.
