Well ive driven it like this for a couple days, with 35s, and it seems like i can get one full turn of the steering wheel without rubbing, unless it hits a bump, but its been drivable.

Calling all arm chair fabricators...and anyone with actual knowledge - If a link was built with chromo tubing like this with filler plates inside the triangles and the " boat " ( term ? ) would this be strong enough vs plating the entire exterior ? Ignore the yellow line that's just my eye to eye mark for thinking about where to put the lower CO bolt below the center line...

My doors are the only stock things left besides the headlights
I’d do both the plates and cover plates

I don't have enough experience in offroad fabrication to really know but in my opinion, it depends on what you are using them for. If they are just to support the truck weight and suspension loads and you dont intend to drag them over rocks, then I would think it would be plenty sufficient. I think a lot of the really beefy trailing arms you see are built that way because they are usually getting bashed up from the bottom side as well from rocks and such.

The weakness in the design is where you have a single tube. That’s why you see shops do many layers of plate in this area because it’s the weakest part of the arm. However it takes the most impact from the coilovers. The old Giant weld it yourself arms used to fold in that same spot. I would worry less about all the trianglulated areas and focus on getting a lot more support where the coilover mounts, you will want more than a single plate on each side at that location. That’s why most arms have layers of plating going out from the shock mounts, less for the other parts of the arm and more for the mount.

*I am sick in bed on meds, take this post at a very low level of value haha

makes total sense, I was thinking the same thing but curious because to be honest I thought the open structure looked really cool ...but good looks don't do ya' any good while your walking home. That pic is from a Race Desert build I saw and they did plate the whole thing but as I was reading the thread I was thinking " shit that looks rad " ...then they plated them fully and they looked boring :)

Bushings are shot. It looks crooked as shit. What could be the cause? I got the DMZ SUA kit.

I'll be honest here. Judging by the pics it looks like your truck is in need of some major prep work. A lot of that could have been found and fixed preventatively if you would give it a good once over before trips.

I would take it all apart, replace all the bushings, have the shocks serviced, service the leafs and then put it all back together taking time to ensure everything is done correctly.

Also looks like a lot of the rear hanger is not welded... could be causing some major flex issues which is leading to your problem in the first place. Pic doesn't show the whole back side of the hanger, but it looks unwelded...

Snap a couple pics of the back side. Those ribs need to be welded to the bottom of the frame for sure. Also if your frame is not boxed and you beat the truck hard, it will flex. Those rear hangers are a lot of leverage on that rear frame area because of how long they are.

Like the build by the way, very similar to my beater!

It probably wouldn't hurt to bust out the level and make sure everything is squared up still...
