Next month is our 6th anniversary and I'm thinking I want to take her to Catalina, neither of us have been there. We can really only stay 1 night (sat night) and it seems that all the nice hotels are a 2 night minimum on the weekends. I've found 2 hotels that will do 1 night (seaport village inn and the glenmore plaza). After looking at online reviews of these hotels, it sounds like they are piles of crap. Do any of you have any experience or advice for staying on Catalina?

I would like to take 2 nights, and I could - but she is unable to unfortunately. They got a zip line on the island that looks fun as hell - was that there back in the day? Did you go on it?

Years (decades) ago we used to stay with a bunch of families at a place called Las Casitas at the back of town. Nice and quiet, easy walk. For all I know, it isn't there anymore, but google it.

Man, fishing, snorkeling, arcades, ice cream, miniature golf, running around all night unsupervised in a pack of kids. As a kid in the 70s, it was bliss. And followed by a visit to Disneyland? Holy crap, heaven on earth.

I hear the mountain biking is awesome. Steep hills, FYI.

Go snorkeling! (or diving, if you are certified...)

Never stayed there, but have done day trips. It's fun. Check out some of the tours like glass bottom boats, flying fish, seals, things like that. Have fun!!

I'm really excited to go - not only you guys but everyone else I talk to that has gone says it's been a blast. I'm just kinda leery about booking a night at these 1 star hotels. it wouldn't really bug me but I know my chick would hate it lol. I guess if we need to we can go out Friday night instead of Saturday morning.

I used to work in Catalina or almost three years so i have an idea of what to expect. My best experiences with the little lady over there have been in the bed and breakfast accomidations! we also took a helicopter ride over there at a cost of $60 per person and then road the express boat back home the next day!we left out of San Pedro for the helicopter ride and it was the besat experience that we ever had! I will have to look when i get home from work for the info for you, but if you just google search for Bed-n-Breakfast places, they will all pop up! Hope you two have a great time over there it is so beautiful!

DUde the zip line is the best, but you have to take the glass bottom boat tour as well. you see some amazing things out there! Rent a golf cart or scooters and do the drive around to the backside of the island as well!:D

I've been to Catalina a few times and Its been a blast everytime. We stayed at some hotel. We didn't care about the ratings as long as it has a comfortable bedbfor us to do our thang :D. I thought the prices was a bit too pricey but other then that it's a pretty gnarly little island and it should be really good for fishing here soon!
