This is about as close as I got the trans to line up and the diff isn't really cooperating. I initially thought the bomb proof motor mounts lowered the engine and that's why I was having a hard time getting over the pinion, but I can see what you mean @Blackdawg - I kept hitting the trans tunnel / y pipe on my headers trying to get that bell housing to clear everything... I might pull the bell housing off of my other tranny and see if I can even maneuver it into place on it's own - if that doesn't work, I might just get some oem mounts and get the bozen mounts when money is free to go towards that kind of thing. I won't be driving this thing hard enough to need them if I can't afford to get it running again lol.

I was gonna say, you mean, your sister got a Honda Ridgeline haha.

The only “cool” thing I’ve seen with those is that the tailgate opens up two ways. It can swing out, or pop down like a pickup. Kinda interesting.

If you jack up on the tranny it lifts your motor and tranny up a little bit and allows you to slide the front diff in and out a lot easier and makes it a one man job.

Putting the tranny back in :anonymous:

I am putting in a new diff so I can take mine out, but I just want to make sure the new one will fit in if I reconnect the trans while there's no diff in there. If I had stock motor mounts and exhaust I think I'd be done by now. :annoyed: Lol

    Question for you guys:
    My alternator is going bad.
I was thinking this would be a great opportunity to upgrade to a higher amperage alternator. Is there a plug n play option out there? I'd like to replace it fairly asap.
    Thanks guys.

The thing about the differential is the stupid rear mounting cushion design which forces you to lift it up at an angle no matter what since you have to clear the crossmember to insert the stud.

Lining up that transmission and mating it was not easy. It took me hours to line it up with the dowel pins and mate it correctly. Remove the transfer case if you haven't already. You're saying your new engine mounts are preventing it from mourning because the engine sits higher now?

That would require getting a tool and learning how to do it. And if I hadn't pulled the latch from the 4runner I would've been buying one for about $25 anyway. I'm sure one weekend I'll sit down, watch a video on it, and try it myself.

Never really figured out what. I just unplugged the bitch and it ran. Haven't hooked it back up as frank is living away from me for a bit. Haven't moved him north to me yet.

Yeah I couldn't get the motor high enough because the bell housing was hitting the tunnel to get the mounts it. Was so frustrating it took me 3 days because I kept walking away from the project.

That's weird! The one in my 4runner wasn't like that, and I was able to just pop the bulb out eventually! Good to know!
