All depends on psi.
And I have run both.
It’s a trade for psi and volume to ease of use.

 

I have an electric one. Does the job but I won't win any races.

 

The small Stihl one has a Kohler engine. I don’t like Kohler at all.

 

I have a Troy Built with a Honda engine, works great. You have to be careful not to damage anything.

To build water pressure it can be done using a combination of methods to build velocity, by increasing the drop (hydro electric dams are a good example) you can also increase velocity by reducing the size of the “pipe” also done in hydro electric. To increase pressure in a washer configuration you would need a bigger more efficient pump/impeller.

The larger hose will increase the volume of water however more volume at the same velocity and pressure of the smaller hose is going to take some effort to control it, there’s a reason you have more than one guy wrestle a 4” line. Maybe a different orifice to spread or fan the spray out to act like a water broom would work for yah Scott.

 

Read reviews of Kohler one. Metal shavings in oil. Had that happen on my riding mower. Now my newer rider is a Briggs.

Good Sunday morning. Lot of things should be doing today, only thing I know for sure is that meat gets to meet some smoke.

Can't like that, I hope we are done with below zero temps for a few months here, and same for you too Bob.

I have an electric for that very reason. As mentioned it is a trade off, volume is too low for big jobs around here but works well for smaller ones. When it dies I will go back to an engine.

Don't forget the convergent-divergent nozzle. But then you would have to heat the water up enough to be steam and a gas. Hmmm that would sure as hell clean well. Too damn early for thinking that hard. More coffee. Fire. Meat. Smoke.
