As often as you change vehicles, why not just buy one and sell it when you get tired of it?

Test drive both a new 3rd gen and one with 5000+ on it so you can get a feel for how the AT trans feels after it's broken in a tad. I have the AT, and it's obviously not perfect, but I have no regrets about getting it at all. It's nice to drive in traffic and I honestly smile more when driving it than I do my M3.

    Magnusson FTW

Otherwise, 3rd gens are nice and quieter than my 2nd gen.

Add $750 to the cost of your 3rd gen Tacoma by adding the @OVTune. I bought an '18 offroad in December and was hoping things had been sorted out. I was getting used to it, but it was a bit annoying on occasion. I added the tune and the truck is literally a different drive. Much more responsive and the low end power is much more usable. High end power bumped a little too. Transmission control and logic is much more truck-like now. I'm happy I did it. It still doesn't drive like my FJ did, but it's closer now.

Actually it does but it doesn't feel like it does. Pedal down you are going to fly but you will feel the transmission hanging back a bit so it feels slow but when you look in the rear view you left traffic in the dust.

But feeling is arguably more important.

:rofl:He hasn't owned it long enough ... and he prolly didn't get any performance chip for it. 22mpg... get a chip.

Tacoma V6 = 16mpg average... and get a stick. I've sat in traffic lots of times and I'm 60yo. not grandpa.

I was at the dealer yesterday, put 40 miles on a Tundra OR, its 100 times better than a Tacoma. The feel, the shifting, the power, but for me it doesnt fit. Too big, mpgs. I like whoever said 2gen with a SC. If only i had bought one new.

I'd get the truck before you move or when you first get here. The roads around San Antonio will tear up a small car.

To me, the Tundra felt bloated and wallowy. Like I was driving a cruiseliner. Fast and roomy, though.

I like the Tacoma for its nimbleness and sporty feel. Exterior size is just right for me. Back seats could use more room, but not bad. Off-road, it’s not even a comparison.

So, Tundra is 100 times better? Or better period? Don’t think so.

Haha yep. I've been stationed in SA twice, spent about 8 years there total, so I know whats coming. It sucked here though last September when it was over 90 for a couple days not having AC.

Exact same reason I want a Tacoma again. The room in the full size is nice to have, but I like the size of the Tacoma.

I have a 17 TRD offroad ACLB with the Auto. It has lots of get up and go as far as I am concerned and the transmission works fine. No complaints here

I use my 2017 DCSB 6MT as my daily driver, bush truck, take the dog out etc. I hate driving it on the highway god for bid towing anything. Which is why I have my 1 ton still.

Test drive it and turn the ECT Power button on. Makes a big difference. Love my 3rd gen, and I owned a 2nd gen for ten years.

To me the build quality was 100 times better. I use to be a master mechanic so i feel I notice things that maybe most wouldn't. It is a 10 year old chassis that seems to have the bugs worked out. My discounted 2 cents.

Will say my 18 tundra build quality feels and looks to be better than my 15 taco
