I've never had a Toyota sunroof leak and I have had 6 Toyota with them. Oldest being an 87.

Same here. No sunroof was a deal breaker for me. I really enjoy the sunroof. In fact I even pop it up on some winter days if it is bright and not snowing. Coming from a t-top MR2 is was very hard to sit in a truck and not enjoy that extra light and air flow.

Here's my .02 cents worth on the sunroof add-on OP. Think on what other immediate or other things you'd like to do to your vehicle and do them first i.e. bed cover, wheels, tires, better sound and such. Drive around as is and see if you can get used to it, hopefully you will, and if not then either trade or add one on.

Depending on the installer and the hardware, the probabilities of any issues are the same imo. Installer is the key here, a good install should be as good as new oem option.

Moreover, I wanted one too, but could not get one with a DCLB white 4x4 in white with a leather steering wheel so I was all set to add one. I found an experienced oem dealer sub who quoted me $2500 for an oem and around $1800 for aftermarket and he said either one was good.
I then did as first stated above, and as I drove it around, tinted the windows (by the same dealer sub installer) and such, I found I could get by without something I really wanted.

Now the urge is gone, I have in our 4R, and don't even use it either, go figure. But I'm $2500 positive balance richer at the bank.

I only suggested trd offroad to the op because of his crawl control .
Just get a sport overhead console with the technology setup. Junkyards are cheaper guys . You can go to a larger one or call. They can check between other locations but if your gonna get a headliner I'd have to see it in person first.

I would have to agree with the hammer on this one though unless it was bundled with the loan as an option I never would got it and I use it . I'm 7k in on mods doing the work myself. I could not imagine a sunroof being a priority over what you could do with the money.

Well he has a pro.It would also kind of be a shame for resale value to have a pro but then have some aftermarket sunroof. What if it breaks? Who do you go to for parts in 10 years?

I’m not sure what state you live in, but I got the top of the line one for my double cab installed with taxes just at 1200. Sounds like highway robbery.

Ditto. People always ask why I didn't just buy a TRD Pro. The sunroof was a must for me, plus I didn't like the idea of paying the insane mark-up the stealerships in So Cal were asking. I figured I could build a faux-Pro that was much more capable with the price difference. Honestly, it was harder finding a TRD OR DCSB 4x4 with the premium and tech package in the color I wanted than it was a TRD Pro haha ...NO RAGRETS!

Yeah. Sunroof and heated seats on a nice, sunny winter's day? Heaven.

What is a sunroof/moonroof good for? Are you driving or looking at the stars? Stick your head out if window down is not enough.

Nah don't do that. If you see the amount of work this man has put in his taco. I would put one in rather than sell his current one and get another taco. His build is damn there too nice to throw away for a sunroof

Unless I'm thinking of a different build thread on Instagram

Wait, just saw your build with the cabrack and plano boxes and all, why the hell would someone want a sunroof that they can’t even put their head up through to do this?!

but with that cabrack, you wouldnt do this, so it may not be all that bad
