    It kind of sounds like I won't be able to renew online when mine expires in another year and a half, it says you might be able to but they want a birth certificate. I want to be able to renew online just once! Mostly, I hate the vision test. Put a chart on a wall and I can see just fine. Make me look into that stupid lighted box and I struggle.

    I have to renew my license this summer and got the letter about getting a real ID or the standard one. I'm likely going to just get the real ID so in 2 years I won't be screwed over trying to fly or such.

    I think you can keep getting a standard one. I will next time if I can renew online that way. I don't need a Real ID for anything...I never fly or go to federal buildings, so I won't bother with it unless I have to go into the registry anyway.

    It's kind of ambiguous. https://secure.rmv.state.ma.us/realid/

    It sounds like you only need it if you travel by plane or go to federal buildings, and if you have a passport you don't even need it for a plane. I'll have to make note to renew before 2020 just in case, that'll buy me 5 years I think.

    I will go to great lengths to avoid the registry's vision test :rofl:

    My muffler has a couple small leaks on the top, back end , were the brackets were welded to the muffler. I'm trying Yale muffler cement , I just need it fixed so I can pass inspection.:fingerscrossed:
