Officially a member of a power lifting gym now. He’s been trying to get me to join for a while. He sent me a message a couple days ago saying $50 for the whole year if I’d join. So...why not??? Even if I just go there once a month to pull, it’s worth it.

    ...Anywhoo...

Do any of you brahs own an instant pot?

I’m kind of wanting to get one. I’m gone from the house too long every day to use a crock pot.

Being able to cook a good meal in 45 minutes seems awesome for meal prep. Especially cause I do 4-5 bulk meals a week for the house just dedicated to prep.

I want to know if these things are as great as everyone says.

I have a rice cooker that has other functions like an insta pot but I’ve never tried it. My fiancé put one on our registry so maybe we will get one soon.

I use a crock pot all the time though. I’ll turn it on when I go to bed and it’s done when I wake up. Throw it in the fridge until later when I have time to sort it all out for the meals if I can’t do it that morning...

This is what I’m thinking about doing.

We are in the process of selling the house so I can’t have a crock pot out during the day but I can over night.

This weekend I did pulled pork in the over over night.

    Btw congrats on getting married!

You just like it? Not love?

For $100 I gotta love it.

    Thanks!

And for selling the house, even better to have the smell of delicious slow cooked meats permeating through the house while potential buyers are looking around...

Thats the key - get married near a holiday so you can remember the anniversary lol.

When you think Thanksgiving youll know you have to get a gift.

    I got married July 4th so I can’t forget.

How many of you guys have a personal trainer?

I’m struggling a bit... I have the motivation, just not all the knowledge it takes to achieve my physical goals. I’m thinking it might be worth investing in getting someone who knows their stuff better than I to set me up with a better routine. That training isn’t cheap though...

Use the internet, find a program or two that fits your end goal and stick with it.

I workout with guys who are certified personal trainers and coaches.

I personally prefer coaches to trainers. I don’t want someone to hold my hand through everything or just tell me to do a random program.

I want someone to tell me what to do- help me if I need pushing-but then let me B.

I think it depends on your goals but 9 times out of 10 personal trainers are a gigantic waste of money. You need to find a good one whos an expert in the goals you have.

I think its easier to learn the basics on your own through a good site. Bodybuilding.com is a good one for lifting/physique.

If you have the motivation, you don't need a trainer. Working out is the easy part. Like @Kerleyfries said, just find a program on the internet...there are thousands of free ones. Just google something like "4 day muscle building program" or "5 day strength program" and you'll find something in no time.

Diet is what gets you where you want to be. Diet can be explained fairly simply, no matter what your goals are. First, know that keto, low carb, atkins, etc. are all bullshit. It's all about calories in vs. calories out.

Next, you'll need to find out what your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE) is. There are free online calculators that will give you a good starting point. Your TDEE is the amount of calories you can eat per day to neither gain nor lose weight. Whatever the calculator tells you, eat that amount for a few weeks. If your weight hasn't moved, you've found your TDEE. If your goal is to lose fat, subtract 500 calories from your TDEE. If your goal is to gain muscle, add 500 calories to your TDEE.

Lastly, you'll need to know how to partition those calories (protein, carbs, fat). A general rule is 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight and fill the rest in with carbs and fat as you'd like. It's that simple.
