I would like to see how you did that? Take a picture from the back so we can see how you routed it.

That's similar on how I routed mine but could still see it when I was up close to the grill. From a distance I couldn't see the wire. I'm a bit of a perfectionist so decide I wanted it exactly as Toyota intended so I bought the harness. It was only around $35.

So I may have missed it earlier but what does that garnish do? I thought it helped with the radar but it just hides/protects it?

It protects the radar sensor from road debri. Also because of it's flat surface allows for easy cleaning and snow will slide off easier.

You can mount it. If you mount it without the 2018 garnish it will be exposed to through the grill. If you remove the insert that comes in the '17 grill you can replace it with the '18 garnish that is solid and will protect the radar.

So when you remove the 2017 insert the 2018 and 2017 grilles are the same?

Yes, the Grille Shells are the same, the only difference is the 17 has the plastic filler piece where 18 has the garnish piece.

Ah that is it then....If you have the 2018 garnish you can just buy the 2017 grille and put it together. Only issue is the 2017 grille is about twice the cost of the 2018 for some reason?

Thank You so much for clarifying that. I bought the 18 grille and garnish on February 16th before my ordered OR truck was even built......I only received the garnish. The parts guy can't figure out why and is still trying to figure it out as we speak. "Where do they get these guys?"

The '18 Pro grilles are on backorder. I have one on order as well from about the same timeframe. Still no ETA on delivery.

I think there is a Stop Sale on the 18 Grille, you currently have to own a 18 Pro to get that Grille.

There is definitely some kind of action by Toyota going on. I don't know what they call it but the parts guys keep giving me the "pending" answer and I'm not sure they know what that means either. At least mine doesn't and so he hasn't offered me my money back yet. The first I saw any mention about this on TW was about February 22nd but I think it started before that. Now the VIN and possibly copies of your registration are being asked for to get the #35180.
Really bad when the OEM stops selling parts of their current model year vehicles and not even give an explanation for why. I will go into my guy tomorrow and get in his face a little bit about it and then order a 2017 grille.

They obviously are short on supply and need to be able to serve current customers in case their Grille gets damaged, once they get caught up with more they will be for sale again.

Just curious how you know it's OEM. Stamped Toyota? Part number?

Exactly what I did. Cost a bit more, but certainty and comfort are what I paid for.

    Exactly.
