Installed LT265/75/R16 load C on my 2017 TRD double cab 4x4 OR less than 800 miles ago purchased from Discount Tire. Very helpful customer service from DT and will continue buying from them. I have a shutter/vibe coming from the rear of the truck after I installed the Duratracs. They replaced a set of Toyo OC AT2 in the same size because I needed something slightly more aggressive for trail use. The vibe was not present with the Toyo's and the vibe only presents itself between 40-50mph. My truck has 16k miles and a minor 2" lift on stock OR rims. I had Duratracs 5 or so years ago on my 2nd gen and no issues whatsoever so I am familiar with ride characteristics of this tire. I brought the truck to have the tires re-balanced the 2nd time at Firestone and they found them out of balance slightly and recommended the driver side rear replaced (Road Forced 35 and 30 after). Discount tire sent a new tire with my purchased warranty no questions asked. Had the tire replaced by a friend at his shop, mounted, Road force balanced (all 4 tires) and re-installed on the truck.......all were off AGAIN slightly after less than 100 miles. I left the shop and it drove fine for a few days then the vibe/shutter returned, WTF. I contacted DT again and they told me to try re-balancing them for the 3rd time and I did. This time I went to a shop that specialized on tires (CT Tire Inc.). I had them check the tires and guess what.......out of balance AGAIN. The vibe still existed from 40-50 mph where I spend a lot of time driving. Tires were re-balanced and off I went only to find the vibe/shutter was still there at the specific speed. At any other speed the truck is smooth. The truck sees 90% street driving and 10% trails mostly in the spring/summer months.....so no trails since installed Duratracs. The truck is a long bed 4x4 and no issues with the Toyo AT2 before. I am a little irritated and am trying to get this solved. At this point I am ready to take the tires off and replace them with a different brand.....sad because people buy a "premium" tire and expect good things. Hopefully DT chimes in to help. A google search has resulted in others experiencing some of the same issues.

    Hi Macoc,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having balancing issues with the DuraTrac tires you purchased through one of the Discount Tire stores. I too would be frustrated with the multiple trips back and forth to for repeat balancing. It almost sounds like the tire/s is rotating on the wheel/s given the multiple out of spec readings you've received.

We'd like to help - PM coming your way.

I suggest you get them replaced out right if possible..

You have to understand the uniform grade quality specs are not the same for SL, P and LT tires..

That tires is C rated, and a light duty but it will never get one without a bit of run out..

Stick to P rated on a light truck, or a less aggressive LT..

I would like to ad that the Duratrac is a fantastic designed tire and I have had MANY sets, in MANY different sizes.. Long lasting and great traction. Not much of a stone spitter either..

Some sets balanced out perfect first time, where others did not, and I had replaced one or two tires to correct it..

The last few sets is where the problems started.. The last set I had on a Sierra were terrible.. Numerous attempts to correct, and the place was not helpful... I ended up getting a set of Highway orientated A/T's and putting the Goodyears on Kijiji for a pretty big hit..

    I won't own a set ever agian..

I agree. I had a set of Duratracs on my 2nd gen and never any issues......great tire, that was the reason I had a set installed on my 3rd gen. I wish GoodYear did a better job with these tires quality control. As far as too aggressive I have to disagree as many run more aggressive mud tires on here with no issues. I wish I could enjoy the tire but this vibe gets annoying as its where I spend most of my time driving. Hopefully this gets fixed.

Not sure if it was mentioned in the thread, but improper lug nuts can give the unbalanced tire feel. I learned it in searching for a solution to my balance issues with my duratracs. My lug nuts weren't the issue. I got sick of living in a lobby of the tire shop as they constantly balanced my tires so my truck shakes over 50 mph. I'll never do duratracs again.

Yea after this issue with Duratracs I can't vouch for the quality......they lost my me too. I have read lots of examples online of balance issues.

I had load range C Duratracs that were noisy when new and had exceesive road force, around 20lbs if I recall. At 40k miles they developed incurable vibration that was caused by cupping.

Discount Tire had Goodyear do a pro rated warranty replacement. However Discount Tire mistakenly installed load range E instead of load range C. To my amazement the load range E are very quiet compared to the load range C when both were new. Also the load range E had very little road force, 3 tires had 2lbs and 1 tire had 10lbs. The ride is extremely smooth in terms of no vibration but it's a little stiffer. And they required very little weight to balance. These are the reasons why its keeping me from going back and having them change to load range C.

Could Goodyear have built load range E Duratracs to a higher standard than load range C Duratracs?
