Looking at full size SUVs. Two 60# dogs that I don't put in the car.

I considered it too but stayed with oem routing. There are a few options. Some vented to the plastics thing above the hood.( In the pic)
And another I saw puts a scoop right above the radiatorimage.jpg

Maybe this is why those guys (whoever installed my kit) went out of business.

Right on. Our family had a suburban when my brother and I were in highschool / middle school. You could fit a ton of stuff in that thing. 4 kayaks and 4 bikes on top, camping gear and food for more than a week, our dog, and 4 people. They've gotten a little more car-like, but that thing did perfect on logging roads up in Maine and through Canada back then. There weren't any competitors in that size class at that time, but things have changed. What are the best ones out there these days?

Well the good news is there is a smoking gun. Now it’s time to fix it. Get new bushings and make sure everything is squared up. Measure front hanger to rear hanger same side, the do the same across. Front on one side to rear on the other side. Also make sure your leaf springs are not off to one side or the other verticaly. It’s some tedious work. But you can make some tweaks and adjustments. Worst case cut off and reinstall a pivot. I am sure DMZ will sell you a replacement part. Then burn it in 360 with the glue gun. I would be bummed but don’t let it get you too much. Just an opportunity to learn more about your truck and setup. Your confidence will be much higher when it’s all done!

All the pics are from passenger side. Looks like they spend all the welding wire on the driver side only. Yeah I'm taking it to DMZ for some more input and new bushings, and then all to the floor it is. I'll probably box the frame while I'm at it. Has anybody use steel-it?

The frame box is a must. Their kit is cheap and fits well. I’m doing mine right now. Hardest part is probably the fact you have to drop the gas tank... all fun though.

DMZ has a frame boxing kit. It’s like $120 or something around there.

I didn' know he sold it. I'll give Tim a call before I show up there.

Rustoleum came out with a similar product for $10 a can - saw a guy welding over it on IG... could be worth a try if it makes a difference to you budget-wise.

A little lift and a little armor

What makes dropping the tank difficult? I'm about to do this myself, so any tips would be appreciated.

    A full tank :p

Room to get at the hoses & bolts w/o removing the bed looks a little restricted at least on a first gen...

It's new I believe - maybe call and ask if anyone knows anything about it at HD's around your area?
