I've never done it but I'm sure it's way easier with an extra set of hands.

Not bad for a extended cab or single. But with the DC it is a bitch to get to the plugs of the sending unit. Well for me because I have Shrek hands.

First time build a cab cage so here’s the mock up of it. There still going to be tubes across the floor and gusset the corners but for the most part it’s done. Time to move on to frame mounts for the cage. For those of you that do this for a living, hats off to ya. Notching is a mofo. I’m getting it down but it still isn’t right.

I have used steel it and I like it. Bummer about your situation, but man this was the motivation I needed to commit to getting my frame
Boxed when my dmz kit gets installed next month. I’m sure frame sway wouldn’t help your situation.

Full pvc mock up? I may have to steal this idea when I eventually cage mine. But how did you put bends in the pvc?

HF Heat gun. I just kept moving the gun side to side and around the pipe until it warm enough to bend it. I used a swivel angle finder to find the angles I needed. I was also able to figure out total tube needed for the cage instead of shooting in the dark when I ordered. Oh and I used 1 1/4” pvc.

Good to know. I'll def have to do that when I do mine. Maybe hear it up and wrap it around the die for the bender so I know what bends are actually possible

That’s what I did. I borrowed a 90* tube 6.5” die from Insain Fab and cut out ply wood and made a stencil to wrap the pvc around. Once I got use to the arch of the bend then I didn’t need that stencil anymore. Everything is in my build.

I've got a budy who builds cages for drift cars, that looks like MEGA overkill, you could probably tone it down some to save on weight. Just sayin...

You’re most likely right. I’ve never built one before and I took the advise from a couple of guys I trust here to help me design it. Feel free to show which tubes to remove and how you would change it. Just saying it’s over kill doesn’t help. I do consider others input.

Cut the sheet metal out of the top in the rear above the tail light, you can gain a lot more clearance for the whole back wall. Do you plan to run 4 seats?

I don't see it being over kill for an off road truck. Honestly, when I see drift cages I get freaked out because they seem weak, but then again they are usually stuck to the ground and not hitting whoops or jumps. Your design looks good, maybe move the lower corners of the C-pillar so they for a single node. Are you landing on the side and top of the frame on those corners? Also, planning on doing 4 seats?
EDIT: Are you adding any structure to the roof?

No rear seats. Kids are all grown up. Turning the rear into storage. I was thinking about that. I’ll cut it. Thanks.
