I started the thread because I do know that sometimes its nice to speak amongst people on a topic where most people try and keep it on the hush hush.... and to hear other peoples opinions on political topics is always interesting

Basically they really wanted to get involved in Nation building instead of really kicking ass,if they really wanted to exterminate the Terrorists in Iraq/Afganistan they would have reinstated the DRAFT and over whelm those countries with our presence just like in WWII against Germany/Japan you got to beat them first and make them submit to your will before you start the Nation building process. I agree though we are spending way too much in support of some corrupt leaders with nothing in return. Whats the honorable way out though?

Except it is... I was a AFSP for 23 years. Deadly force is authorized in the protection of PL1 and PL2 resources.
Maybe not in the Coasties, but in the AF we are locked, loaded, and can use deadly force for the protection of personnel and assets.

Standing up for ourselves for one, no more appeasement thinking that will solve things (because it really worked pre WWI and WWII). A hardy, "if you dont like us, tough". We need, IMHO to focus more on domestic issues for a change and let the world really see what its like without our influence and money around. Even just a year of isolationism (pipe dream) could do wonders. Freedom is great, but not every country is ready for it or understands what it really takes. I think its a lesson we have forgotten. Cases in point, Eastern Europe after the fall of teh soviet empire, South Vietman, Iraq. Our founding fathers forged a new democracy through tough times with very little in the way of resources. Today we are so globally interconnected and worries about the punk nations that we forget who has the big stick. If you look at the history of the afghan campaign, militarily, it was over in 3 months thanks to Special Operations Forces and intelligence agencies, but we stopped at the PK border. Where we messed up was thinking the gov't over there would shift away from tribal ties to a national identity. Same with Iraq.

I agree,I read that it was Bin Ladens strategy to get the US involved in a war campaign in Afganistan so that they could destroy the US there such as they had done to the USSR and England before that,I hope his strategy doesnt pan out,our county is basically broke bankrupt this is all apart of Al Quedas strategy to bring us down. Looks like we took the bait

my mom speaks broken english, i look like many illegals here in san diego, im dark, short hair, mustache, shit when i have on my levis, construction boots and tshirt. what makes me any different than an illegal?, why should i be herassed? my mom speaks broken english, why should she be harassed?

being here illegal is fucked up, stealing jobs is fucked up, but then again, i dont wnana work flipping burgers, they are. i dont wanna do side jobs for half the price of what i should get paid, they do. so we get rid of the illegals, im not going to work construction for 15 dollars an hr. fuck that. it looks like stopping illegals is going to be hard, so in the mean time, stop bitching and accept theyre going to be here, theyre going to push better cars than us. theyre gonna buy shit and we're gonna wonder how they get all that money. just like drug dealers r going to buy bmws and porshes while claiming fake incomes. drug traffickers r going to buy huge houses in eastlake here in san diego, oh well. gangs are on our streets killing everyday, maybe im being ignorant, maybe im being a dick, but i cant do shit about it but watch it happen like everything else and go on with my life. i dont pay for my benefits so i dont worry about joe illegal

But we aren't talking about protecting AF assets any more... And we aren't talking about protecting personnel or assets.
If anyone comes across the border presenting a threat/shooting- Should get the same in return.

But killing someone for crossing a border illegally- I'm against illegal immigration-but not to that extent.

No, but you pay for all their benefits. So if you want to keep handing cash over for services that you don't get to benefit from, and others do that don't deserve it, then you go on ahead and keep looking the other way.

shit look at our taxes. where do they go? EVERYWHERE, we built a bridge 30 miles from my home in the middle of no where. my GAS TAX dollars went there, so wtf, i paid for some bridge i dont use. whats the difference. my tax dollars went to pay for a 15 million dollar bike lane in san diego off freeway 52. i dont ride a bike, nor do i believe bikers deserve a 15 million dollar bike lane if when i was working there i saw 15 riders tops! a day

So because there are some projects that you don't like we should accept whatever comes?? That's about the most pointless attitude ever.

By not opposing something- more and more will continue to be piled on (just like the little by little erosion argument used to say this law is a violation of right...) Me I'm opposed to my monies being given out to people who don't chip in too. If these is a way to find them and remove them...I'm game.

Heres an idea... If you don't live in this State and don't really know whats going on, or if you've just jumped on the bandwagon of opposing this Law without actually researching it, SHUT UP!
