Got all the kinks out of the gear though which is a plus! The stripers will have to wait till I get up there again in June or July the chopper blues will be there too! Now to reorganize all my tackle for drums in 2 weeks.

Anyone use a daiwa beefstick? I have a casting reel I need a rod for. Tackle direct has them 10 foot (for $40 shipped) and 12 foot (for $43 shipped) seems like a fair deal. Yes, I know its a cheap(er) made rod and wont compare to $100+ rods.

They’re uncomfortable, heavy and are too flimsy to get a good cast IMO, but the rod itself is not easy to break since they’re glass and not composite.

Thanks for the input y'all. Might go a different route if I can find a casting rig in that range.

I wouldn't use it to throw lures I have other set ups for that. It would be strictly for chunking big baits with a fish finder rig. That's why weight isn't a big issue. I have a Okuma Tundra (12 foot) thats heavy and I hate casting it but it gets the bait out there and that's all that matters.

Is Fishingeureka .com a reputable website to order from? I've never heard of them before.

It's based out of Florida, but they have stuff $20-40 cheaper than anywhere else....

EDIT: I think it is a scam they has Shimano's for 50% cheaper than anywhere else nor did they accept Paypal.

If West Marine carries the same product they will price match any website. Did that with an engel cooler recently. Website really looked like a scam and had engel coolers about $80 bucks cheaper, called west marine, they price matched and shipped to me for free.

They do not take PayPal or I would have probably tried it. I went with livetofish, used a coupon I got the beefstick for $29 which is only $2 more than the other place.

That's awesome! I didn't know that about West Marine, I'll have to remember that!

Which one did you go with. You look at the Jame Baroud or Alu-Cab ones as well?

I bet you're still taller than me!

Just bought five packs (17 hooks in each) of 9/0 Eagle claw circle hooks for $13 off of ebay. Man I love that place.

I see the good in saving the money but man I don't support Amazon really as much as possible. For stuff like that I would rather go to my local bait & tackle and buy from the guys there than Amazon but that's just me.

It's nice that CVT is a USA company but Damn those James Barouds and Alu-Cabs are extremely nice.

I’ll make the 13 hour round trip if you can get me the same deal on one that you got. :boink:

I agree with you and would if I could. Living where I do, there are no mom and pop places like that around me or within two hours for that matter. I don't support Amazon at all. I used to get terrible service through them so I stopped buying from them.

In all seriousness...as long as I’m still going to AOP the weekend before our fishing weekend, I could grab it from the Chattanooga store. I have to pass through Chattanooga both directions.
