She works really well with functional things as well. Lately she has stayed on the payment because I live on base and don't get to travel too much with her, but when I first built her I used it for everything under the sun. There is a 6 inch fabtech lift with 6 inch blocks in the rear, along with a 3 inch body lift to clear the 38 inch tires. It was a start for someone who was on a minimal budget and wanted to have a "bad" looking truck that I am very proud of, but ive been in the process of buying her new everything to build her like she needs to be built.

Yeah, Go big or go home. My granddad bought me this when it was bone stock, and I wanted something bigger, but couldn't get rid of it because it is an amazing truck so I just started building on her and I haven't been able to stop since.

    That's 140/month. Like 1500 a year.

    Edit: Sorry, almost 1700. Maths

No; It isn't that much a month. I really don't have to get gas as much as people would think.

    Once a week at 35 dollars each is 35 x 4 = 140/month. 140 x 12 months = 1680.

I'm just saying it adds up faster than people think. If you can support that, cool. It's a great looking truck. I just think people underestimate the real cost of maintaining a truck like that.

Well said sir . Its his rig. So what if its not as functional as a sas'd rig or what all the cool kids are doing now, "overlander". Has anybody thought that maybe he doesnt offroad?? Maybe he wants a lifted truck with huge tires? Its the same shit with lowered cars, or stanced as some call it. I love them. Sure, some are exaggerated. But i love me some slammed sexiness. Cant really go to many places but wtvr...lol

    Good looking truck man

    Lol...where are these $35 fill ups? That's like free gas! The cheapest gas near me is $3.28...so 3.28x16 (leave a little in the tank) $52.48 x$209/month x 12 = 2508 a year.

You're spot on, the cost of fuel adds up real fast.

I'm glad I only fill up about twice a month unless I'm doing a lot of road trips. Then it might be 3 or 4 fill ups in a weekend. I'm glad I have a daily driver.

Nothing personal but i hear this all the time and I call bs. It's something we all say but although many of us add functional mods, many of us like the fact they look cool. I for example never got close to maxing out the capabilities of my truck before I decided to lift anf add bigger tires.

For sure...I like how my bumper with HID's looks as well as how it works to hold my winch etc.

For me I draw the line at things like de-badging or plasti dipping badges or painting my grill black. And it's not that I dissagree with those things. It's just that I'd rather spend my time and money doing things like building a auxillary fuel tank set up, dual battery system with solar, build my own fridge slide and light weight aluminum sleeping platform, Tundra brakes and other things. I just don't have time for appearance things. Maybe eventually I will.

I also avoid modding the engine and drive line. I believe stock is more reliable. I'm going to re-gear at some point but I dont' think that will make my diffs less reliable. I think the guys who Turbo their trucks are bad ass...but I won't do it to my truck. Unless I have more than one truck...I wish!

A 3" suspension lift with mid travel Kings and 33's adds function, regardless if you actually "need" it or not (I know I didn't *need* it...), and sure, it looks cool, too.

Form and function aren't mutually exclusive, but they do sometimes conflict. In those circumstances, for me, functions comes first. Take for example pizza cutter tires (255/85's). I think they look a little goofy (most people do, lol), but generally perform better in the terrain I drive, are lighter, and require less fender trimming than their fatter 285+ cousins (though they look a little "cooler"). Advantage: 255's.

I contend that a lift as high as the above truck (9-10") detracts from the actual (off-road) functionality because of the the extremely high center of gravity, despite the fact that lifts like that are supposed to make it look like an off-roader. Personally, for a lift that big to fit tires that big, hack off the IFS and stock rear axle and throw in a couple linked Dana60's, and trim the fenders.

It's a good looking truck (just not my bag), and the owner should be proud of it, but let's not pretend it's going to perform well off-road because it has giant tires and you need a ladder to get in it.

    Someone Hellp!!
I have a 2002 Tacoma crew Cab with a 3” trailgear lift. I put spacers on the springs for the lift. It’s been happening for a while now but every time I go over a speed bump fast or slowslow the spring/shock tops out and slams hard making a loud bang and uncomfortable hit. I want a better ride for under $700(if even possible/worth it)
