Hello all. On Friday, I traded in my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee for a 2018 Tacoma SR5. It was some what of a spur of the moment kind of thing since the Jeep was having some major problems that might not have actually been fixed by the dealership, so I decided it was time to trade it in before I got stuck with a huge repair bill. So far I really like the truck. It only has 130 miles on it so its really to early for me to form an opinion.

My initial observations are much more pleasant than I was really expecting. I had really just went to test drive one because a good friend had set everything up for me with a salesman he knew. I was surprised with the ride quality when I test drove it. Having the longer wheel base and softer suspension is going to take some getting used to, as I feel like I am floating around whenever I hit a bump, but not in a way that makes it feel like I don't have control of the truck. It had much better throttle response than I was used to and even though the 0-60 is rated at around 2 seconds slower than the Jeep was, it feels like a faster car. I just looked up some specs and saw how heavy this thing is and again, was very surprised. It feels like a much lighter vehicle than it is. Its very pleasant to drive and within the next month will be driving it on a trip that will total about 400 miles so I will be able to see if it is as easy for me to drive after a couple hours or not. I'm really excited about the purchase and am hoping this ends up being a good truck for me.

Welcome aboard:thumbsup: and congrats on the new truck. You probably won't have any large repair bills but the mods will also drain the wallet:spending:

Nice truck! Did you go with the short bed or long bed?

These trucks handle so well on the open road. At 80 i can drive my truck with a finger, which of course i don't. The other things about Toyota that has me a costumer for life is they're always thinking of useful practical features, not gimmicks. And the biggest reason, aside from look and feel, is reliability. The engines are bulletproof, just change the oil. The resale value of these trucks is always high. My buddy just bought a 98 4runner with almost 300k miles on it, and it drives and sounds great... 4500$.

I went with the long bed. It was the only 2018 SR5 Long Bed 4x4 they had on the lot. I like the look of the short beds a little better (not that either look bad by any means), but the added functionality of the long bed should I choose to get a toolbox appealed to me.

Thanks! And I had thought about it, but I believe that my avatar shows plenty. I didnt want to be the guy on a Tacoma forum bragging about how cool my stock truck with tinted windows is.
