    Did you mean you torqued the flywheel bolts to 24 ft lbs? Pretty sure they should be a lot tighter than that.

    From the service manual:

    Flywheel x Crankshaft

    Two stage torque: Torque to value then an additional 90 degrees.

    27 N*m then Turn 90 °
    or
    270 kgf*cm then Turn 90°
    or
    20 ft.*lbf then Turn 90 °

    It is called angular torque or torque to yield and is commonly used on modern engines.

    And as an added note:

    Different to conventional bolts, torque to yield bolts are tightened beyond their elastic range, past their yield point: i.e. past the point from which the bolt material can recover to its original length: and into the plastic phase of the bolt material.

    The bolt is permanently stretched and for this reason should not be reused. The reliability of these bolts once stretched is greatly reduced, if they are reused, they are permanently stretched further a second or third time. It is for this reason, you should never reuse a torque to yield bolt and always follow the manufacturers specifications.

    I bought new bolts from URD. Pretty much replaced everything. Flywheel, flywheel bolts, pressure plate, pressure plate bolts, clutch plate, TOB with Sleeve, and added a never short throw shifter from URD. It took us a while, but truck is driving amazingly. Will be replacing the Y pipe in the near future as one of the exhaust bolts snapped on use in the flange and had to be drilled out.

    Nope didn't change that out, truck only has a little over 70k on it but the clutch was toast and the TOB was squealing.

    I hope this isn't a trend lol. I've read a lot of owners seem to have their stock clutches going out on the V6 before 100k

    Yeah I lack two cylinders though. This is also the clutch I learned to drive manual on and carrying a FWC Eagle full time isn't helping.

    Not a trend!
    Hint, keep your foot off the pedal, & get ur foot off the pedal as soon as possible, meaning don't let the clutch slide out less gas more clutch, practice letting the clutch up with no gas & the clutch will out last the truck.

    There are techniques that make a clutch last. I have over 168K on mine. It is heavy, gets wheeled and used for towing and hauling. I think people have trouble with Tacoma clutches because they have little feel. Bugged the shit out of me when I first got it, but I have many years with clutches, so I learned to drive the taco without it.

    Congrats to the OP and those who have performed this repair ..... I've done a lot of repairs of my life but I just HATE exhaust to manifold bolts. If the engine manifold bolts even think I've going to look at it , it will seize forever and refuse to back out. I'm quite capable of removing frozen, rusted, and even broken studs - but I HATE these bolts.

    Many years ago when I was much younger I decided to do my own exhaust. I brought it to a friend who heated it up and pulled and gently replaced the bolts so I could drive it home and perform the work. Then being young and stupid (read I thought I new all the answers) I replaced the bolts with stainless steel. Two weeks later the donut / gasket started leaking. I tried to tighten a 1/2 turn or so and immediately snap both flush (ARRGHG !!). Then I had to cobolt drill out the manifold bolts and made a mess ..... Should have used brass back then. I hate those bolts !!! Rant off !

    Yup I'm gonna be getting the URD Mark II Y pipe here soon than I'll throw the skids up so they can't see the deleted rear cats (will still have the front two) why the hell do we have 4 cats anyway...
