And you are 04B11 running the 87 octane 002 file?

I'd also like to know if you're getting that slight double bump surge when lifting. It's right at the point where you go from on the throttle to feather (not quite full lift). It'll do it at any rpm, most notably when you're backing out of the gas slowly. It only really bugs me when on the highway in traffic (minor throttle changes). It sounds picky, but if Mat can find a simple fix that's another step closer to perfection.

Can't wait for the fine throttle control fixes Mat has in store. No weirdness in 4lo, very linear feel to it. It's good.

Ok back to work emails :anonymous:

    Yes 04B11 1.03c 87 002 test tune.

I haven’t caught on to the “double bump surge” when lifting but I’ll try to replicate it and let you know.

Why would he need to bump the price up? What kind of features? Because price doesn't need to raise if you're referencing the work being put in to help further develop this tune. That's a community effort. They weren't coerced into assisting Mat.

Features? Like what, launch control? Flat foot shift? Lol we don't need all that. Or do you mean like a handheld tuning device? Even so, pricing wouldn't necessarily change. All you would be paying for then is a user friendly system and interface that even the dumbest individual could navigate without questions, in exchange for what you currently receive when you buy the tune, and the current set of steps and instructions aren't bad anyway.

Sorry if I jumped the gun when I saw this comment...havent had coffee yet.

Thank you, just trying to verify if anyone else has it, and so far your experiences have been fairly close to mine on 1.03C (stutters etc).

I think there was at least one other guy who mentioned it, but perhaps not in the exact same way.

I'm curious why some got the other test tunes and some did not? Not a complaint at ll, just genuinely curious.

Test file 001 has been amazing so far and everything feels great.

I think I just caught Mat at the right time after sending my log from test tune 1 (I requested test tune 2 in that email). Also, @MOC221_ and I seem to be experiencing some of the worst surging symptoms so perhaps that is playing into it?

Ya, I am sure this is why. I will be on the test tune while in Moab so it will have some good miles on it. I also plan to log 4lo when we get to some good spots on the trail. Not sure if this is handy data for Matt, but eh, more data can't be bad :)

Don't have time to read through 193 pages, but this has my interest. Is this tune plug and play? Does it require constant monitoring and updating? I know there is a lot of input from the community here, but it is a must to have a deep understanding of what's going on in order see the benefits.

    Thanks all.

1st question: yes, ish. Sort of. There's a bit of a process. But not difficult
2nd question: no, but updates ARE free for existing customers as they're released

Also, here is a link to a thread full of nothing but reviews: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/poll-ovtune-reviews-3rd-gen.535928/

Let us know if you've more questions

Features like DFCO and revhang for witch he has stated is mutch more work. Any price increase will be for new adopters only.

I mean, rev hang is much reduced in my opinion, and if people are still complaining about what little rev hang remains, they bought the wrong vehicle. It's a truck, not a sports car.

DFCO I hear you on. I still am not entirely convinced it would warrant a price increase though. I guess that would remain to be seen. Certainly not a large one at the very least. People complain about the pricing enough as it is, even after they're educated about what they're getting for their money, cost of similar services/hardware on other vehicle platforms, etc.

    Plug and play.

What you see happening here is members of the community helping Mat (from Orange Virus Tuning) tweak his tune for the manual transmission Tacoma, because he doesn't have access to one himself.

That said, once you tune a vehicle it's hard to remain hands off as new versions of the tune are released, or if the tuning software
allows the user to adjust various settings manually. Sometimes it can feel like a bit of an addition. :D

Yeah I guess it's because some of us were identifying specific issues we were having, and Mat was able to see those issues in our logs and deal with them. He would then send us another file to see if the problems were sorted out. If unsuccessful, another file would come our way and so on until the problem was fixed. At least that's been my experience.
Those of you that don't have issues but logged anyway would only see the end result (the fix). Your logs are definitely valuable tough, as a sort of control at least.

I have a total of 5 test files for 1.03C 91. That's how much work Mat has put into nailing these issues.

Only the first 2 are what you would call fully optimized tunes, the rest were focused on specific fixes (so nobody ask me to email them, they're not really worth anything outside of the faultfinding process).

TL;DR version - You're not missing out on anything if you got fewer files than someone else. The next file coming is the important one.

For sure... If he managed to get all of improvements to play nice with a fully optimized tune that has the main attributes we come to expect (power, responsiveness, mpgs etc) - it should be stone cold awesome.

Remember, it has to pass muster across all ECUs too. Again, really excited for the next file :)
