I think it was the Zachariah that goes up the hill from that "playground" area. We went up there last year, but I don't remember if we turned left or right at the top.

I've been following it pretty close... Receiving email notification and newsletter from all the meetings and such. Following "Hollerwood" too. Mostly reading the Facebook page covering meetings. Technically they can't block "county roads"...But there have been several armed confrontations, as well as several instances where residents park vehicles in the roadway, then force legal action once off roaders take an alternate way around (and across private property. All things equal, I'd rather not have to deal with this shit. It would be less hassle if we found a route that avoided the trouble spots until everything is cleared up. We went through the same sort of nonsense on a few Indiana "county roads" back in the '80's. Property owners were in the wrong...But at some point they put off roaders in a position where we were "wrong" too. Guess who lost in the long run?

I'd gladly get involved in helping maintain the trail systems. Won't be able to attend many meeting though, due to logistics.

Hollerwood isn't tickling my taint yet. Read what we've posted on Facebook on their page, can't even answer simple questions. They have absolutely no clue when they'll open.

Even backwoods redneck Rush office staff is courteous enough to respond to people. That said, I'm not 100% rock hard when I think of going to Rush, it's just close to me and cheap. I get about 75% stiff :)

That's how Wildcat is. It's close and a different view, that's about it. Not many mud holes other than the main trail when it rains, just trails.

I would think Rush is a bet better than that. It's all in how much we want to push ourselves there. Just gotta ride 20 miles of green/blue trail to get to the better ones unless you're Levi, then you can climb the rock wall beside our camping spot last year...

So far, my favorite spot I've been is hands down RRG.

Hollerwood would be open today if it weren't for all the politics involved. There's a few people who want to get in on the action who are holding up progress. It's some very unique trails...and a major obstacle to Carb Hill/Zachariah etc...My interest isn't so much "Hollerwood" as an entity, as it is access to the entire area that Hollerwood is a key part of... It needs to be opened even if we don't go on their trails.

Well I take that back. Cause if you cross the rail road tracks it's nothing but mud and creek crossings. However, Wildcat doesn't own that but that is where 80% of the people wheel at when they go.
that's where basically 90% of this video was recorded. I believe we could run Tacos through it.... Just not a line of 15-20

This sounds like we'd have to pay to get into Hollerwood, only to leave their designated park area to get to where we wanna be...good plan

Most of RRG/DBBB will remain "public land"....Hollerwood will be a privately owned and controlled property if/when it ever opens. With that, there is potential for someone/some group to cut a profit. That draws people like a dead animal draws buzzards... People involved in county politics and those who want to be involved all recognize an opportunity to line their collective pockets. Truth is, the place will be lucky to make enough to break even. We went through the same ordeal in the '80's and '90's trying to develop a club grounds to race dirt bikes....(What went on to become Dirty Turtle) By the time they pony up for insurance, taxes, fences, ect, any potential profit/assets become losses/liabilities that no one is prepared to absorb.

Those who are pushing for Hollerwood are marketing it as a potential draw for "paying customers" in the area. Most of the residents living near there would just as soon not see any more of those danged off roaders. Long and short is, there are about 6 different "sides" to the story, and no two seem to be on the same page.

But...Try to look at it from the perspective of area residents that only see "those damn off roaders" challenging their neighbors for access to land that they couldn't care any less who has a "right" to be on. Their perception becomes their reality. And we would be challenging VOTERS who in turn dictate what the local politicians choose to do. I don't look at it as "yielding", so much as live to fight another day...When there might actually be a chance of winning.

    Been down same/similar road before....

Don't be such a tight ass! :spending: Ya gonna play, Ya gonna PAY!:D

As I get to know more about the trails in the immediate area surrounding Hollerwood, there's not a doubt in my mind the selection of this particular tract of land has as much to do with it being the "gatekeeper" of some really popular trails as it is just pure coincidence that this piece of property is/was available to be bought/leased.
