Most guys here don't like Bull Bars. The consensus is that they just make the collision worse. (Damage/Force multipliers.)

That being said, I used to have one. They mount with an L bracket to your bumper bolts.

Excuse the poor drawing, but the L bracket attaches via six bolts to the aluminum crash bumper mount on the frame:

He means that the shit storm is about to hit you with your choice. It is YOUR choice but there are a few on here that just don't like a bull bar.

What is your objective with the bull bar??

    -mount light accessories?
    -provide front protection?
    -look cool?

Tell us what you want to do and maybe we can point you in the right direction

Not ones that only mount from under the bumper, like this one. Well unless you want protection from stone chips and bugs.

Look at ones on real police cars (not the fake shit you see advertised on the net) and you’ll see they mount below and above the bumper, or too the bumper, depending on vehicle model. If it only mounts under the bumper there is simply no strength to them as the mount is too far away from the impact point.

From what I have learned about bull bars from the ranchers and co-workers that work with the ranchers here in Idaho (work for a National Forest). These bull bars were meant to push open gates and push the cattle out of your way if needed. If you have never been in a vehicle in the middle of a herd of cattle, you will understand that if the herd doesn't want to move, they aren't moving. And the ranchers use the bull bar to push gently on the cattle to get them to move. These aren't meant to be used as a front collision protection device.

The protection they provide is from those long body shop repair times in a front end collision. It just help total out faster lol.

Seriously, you think the reason to buy a truck is to go off road? What about the Utility of a pickup for homeowners. This is one of my biggest peeves about these forums. It’s either you off road, or you don’t belong on TW, or anything you do to your vehicle that’s unrelated to off roading is useless. That seems to be the undertone here.

Stay on topic? The guy asked for instructions on how to install a bull bar, and you proceed to lecture him on how useless they are?
