This is an odd request, but I'm willing to be I'm not the only one who would be interested. My wife Loves my Tacoma, or did until until I switched from NFab side steps to sliders. Now she has a difficult time getting into the truck. Well I have little desire to switch back, and have grown weary of explains the benefits of the sliders. I'm pretty convinced she won't understand until we need them. I am equally convinced that my wife will not be adding to her 5'1" stature anytime soon. So what do you say Joe, how about a removable side step for the sliders. Something simple that bolts on, and can be pulled off when we hit the trail.

Crazy idea I know, it just might save my marriage

Not at odd question at all Pete, we have had quite a few people ask for this. I will make time to develop it.

Also, weird timing but I took your replacement skid plate to powder coat today.

Your the best. I bet you could sell a good number of those steps.

Two other notes. I guy I'm doing a job for got the slider hardware that went missing. I just got it Saturday, I'll ship it back to you when I get a moment to

Not to be a PITA, but I'm still holding out for the front bumper so I can make some decisions. I'd rather support you guys if all things look good

I'm thinking it's the height of the slider that is the problem, more so than the surface grip.
Same problem I had. I wanted something that would give me protection on the trails but also serve as a step for my wife and other passengers.
Unfortunately there just doesn't seem to be a good 'in between' out there that I know of.
Sliders are all mounted too high to be a good step (makes sense, they should be higher up to give proper clearance).
But steps are too low (should be to be functional as a step) and typically only mount to the body, not the frame, of the truck.

In the end, I was not getting out on the types of trails that I needed sliders for nearly as often as I wanted to, so the sliders came off.

We are trying. Plus those won't work on sliders with Fill Plates. That is where we are hung up, make a design that works on sliders with and without fill plates.

I could well be wrong, but anything that works on sliders with fill plates is going to miss a more elegant solution for sliders that do not have fills. I appreciate you working on it, but I think I'll post something in the more general area. I know you are busy and these are unlikely to sell in numbers that will even buy you breakfast.

Maybe the broader community has some ideas....

E 3/8 round bar H loop inside. Curve bar from step that contours over the slider and half under the 3/8 round bar. Just 2 split rings, 4 bolts, and hardware is non load bearing yet easy to remove . DiY at home

Or a pass through system with a welder nut or embedded coupling In the tube. Then 2 tubes with thread ends on one side and one would have a hole for a small step bar, another tapped to receive the threaded end of the step bar. All 3 could screw together with a small punch and only the step would need a safety pin to keep from rotating out. 1 east tool. Could shoulder the inside of the receiving end of the step for step rigidity.MemoDraw_JPEG_20180321_123743_001.jpg MemoDraw_JPEG_20180321_124129_001.jpg

God I hate typing these thing and drawing in a phone. Give me a napkin .

If one were to make the step risers out of something flexible like steel cable or chain, they would swing out of the way of an obstacle and might not have to be removable.
